Is a 71 to 76 impala rear physically identical to the 9 3/8 rear? Bolt in wise?

I ask because on e bay they are offering ford 9 inch axle housings that fit 71 to 76 impalas. And on car-part.com this rear fits our cars. So if this is so, YIPEE!

it should. Looking on car-part.com the interchange is right there.there were no differences in the length of control arm for the different rears offered correct? If this is so then we should be in business.

Yes it will fit. Unlike the 1970-earlier cars, the 71-76 full size cars all use the same suspension.

400.00 for my rear. I believe it has 3.08 gear. perhaps 2.9 something.

Happiness is ours. This rear end fits. ANY gear ratio is now available to us with big olds. I am going to abuse the **** out of this rear. I am a happy boy.
Now to get to the track and get into the 12's if not better.HEY, one can hope. lol.

5k for a bare block. freeze plugs included. Comes in 3 bore sizes. I can order 1 needing finish hone to transfer all my innards on my 468. Install cam bearings and have a nice day. Spin that sucker all you want.
Granted it IS 5 grand. However 5k is WAY less than the results of a block failure. We can FINALLY build 1 nasty as you like olds engine and it will last.
Actually last.
I want one.
