Grill design question

Anyone have an idea about the Olds emblem in the center of the grills for the '63 and '64 D88s, S88s and J88s? I've seen some as painted in red and others (like mine) with no paint at all. Maybe it has worn off over the years? If it is worn, and confirmed to be period correct, I'd like to paint it back.

What am I talking about? See the emblem in my photo below, above the license plate and below the hood line:

And if it would be correct to repaint, what product is recommended?

They were all red originally. The paint on yours has just worn away. That's very common.

Just guessing here, but ,if it's like the hubcap centers it would be a "transparent" red.

Maybe a Testors model paint like Candy Red? With a good clear coat.

Yup, only I don't think you would need the clearcoat.

I found a Suzuki paint color that matched my hub cap center color very well. It has a translucent look to it.

Yet another good comment and lead on color. Getting ready for the weekend show circuit and top dog role as the getaway car for a wedding...
