55 door and trunk moldings vendors

Hi all, it's probably my lack of experience using the search engine here but I can't find what vendor would be the best for finding the door and trunk weatherstrip seal moldings for my 55 Super 88 4dr. sedan. I could use some guidance and thanks in advance.

The ones that are on my 4 Dr. Holiday are from Steel Rubber Co. and the fit is good and are holding up well.I think Fusick's would be of good quality also. Good luck, Larry

I recently bought everything from a website called "rubbertherightway.com". Most was in STEELE RUBBER packages. Everything installed nice except that the door pieces were about 7" too short. Think they'll fit the 4 door perfect. They sent a piece and I spliced it in at the bottom.

Another issue I had was the Steele Rubber trunk seal is soooooo stiff, I'm a month in and still can get my trunk lid to close nice. It's sitting on the highest adjustment and I can barely get it to close. Not sure what I'm going to if it doesn't settle down......

If you can find a trunk seal that is not from STEELE, get it. I usually only use Metro product, but they clearly don't see money to be made supporting these cars.

Late reply! But how did you with the trunk weatherstrip? I got one from fusick for my 55 and I cannot get the boot to shut? Seems to be too thick or something

Cheers

Mine's been on there for a couple of months and it is still a pain to close. I am working on getting the car running so I'm just letting it compress with the lid closed. I think I may also need to move the lid rearward a tiny bit which may help.

All in all, pretty disappointed in that weatherstrip. Have replaced a bunch of these on different cars and never had this issue.

Good luck!

Thanks mate, I cant even get my trunk to shut? I have taken the rubber off already as I thought I put it on the wrong way.. I think I may go to a more generic weatherstrip as I already forked out $160 for this one

Cheers

Dan

I believe I used a generic one on my 55. I got it off the shelf from Napa, worked fine.... Tedd
