Exhaust day is upon us! IMG_20160522_164146_zps7ruiokgy.jpg

All but 4 clamps will be gone, the garage where i have access to a lift doesn't allow any welding but it was 100X easier to mock it all up and such on the lift so i can take it down in the sections i want welded at home

Alright, exhaust is 80% done i just need to pipe it out the bumper, dumps right after the axles now. But found out i have a massive power steering leak as well as my water pump is ****. I'm planning on going to an electric water pump and power steering pump started a thread asking pros vs cons of the electric water pump. Also planning on the grand cherokee box swap while I'm in there so i only have to do the lines and such once. Looking into a mazda 3 pump about $75 used off of craigslist where stock replacements range from $55-$299 depending

Well tomorrow is the day, going to the local pick and pull having a 40% off sale in search for a mazda 3 electric power steering pump, hoses, pigtails and also a jeep grand cherokee steering box hopefully with hoses. I may also look for some coolers and hoses trans, pwer steering, oil ect. But it shouldn't be to bad. What else do you guys think?

Well, I won't be using the Mazda 3 pump, the computer on the pump made wiring it to run beyond my skill level. Ended up selling the ones I bought, plus side is I made a small profit from the sales I'll end up with an MR2 or volvo one.

I will be making a fan shroud for the radiator I'll use some aluminum sheet and make some bends.

As far as the over flow bottle I'm thinking of using some 1 Leiter aluminum paint cups for the washer fluid, overflow and steering punp reservoir and mounting them possibly on the fire wall or near the front of the car and plumbing them with either brake line or fuel line. What do you guys think?

The under dash wiring is a mess thanks to the P.O. installation of a radio that they didn't wire correctly

Well got the car running today! Everythingis operational however a few problems exist.
Problems:
1: I used 40 amp fuse and relay for the steerint pump works however once its at lock i lose the fuse. I bought the provisions to do an 80 amp fuse and 100 amp relay tomorrow so no more issues there.
2: i did the jeep box swap it must have been knocked off center because lock to lock is not even. But again itll be an easy fix

So far so good! Waiting on a 124 amp alternator but then it'll be back running!

What do you guys think?

I think you did a lot of good work for essentially zero benefit, but if it makes you happy, that's what it's all about.

The same could be said for what any of us does with our cars, so I'm not really being critical.

I'd like to know how you like driving it once you get it all finished.

You Sir are not wrong. Maybe save 10 to 15hp at peak but overall because it all needed to be changed (leaking waterpump and steering pump, rusty rad) I figured "why not" ha. Only thing that cost much more than a "stock" replacements

I wont 100% know om the steering only because I swapped out for a grand cherokee box at the same time however i hope becaust it is still a hydrolic system it should feel similar and not "numb"

Thank you guys

Whats up everybody sorry I've been MIA lots of issues getting the car sorted out, two bad alternators this new one is only putting out 13.10 and its a 140 amp alternator, had a bitch of a time with getting the coolant system worked out ended up just losing the tstat for now hopefully this helps out. Also developed an oil leak on the timing chain cover.

Thank you. For now I think I'm okay on parts truth be told im at a crossroads with the car I'm still having electric charging problems i think ive narrowed it down to the battery however car needs other work as well (intake, carb) . Somedays I want to keep it and do a 4 speed with a dana 60 and a pro street style setup with tunnel ram/blower for fun and drive the **** out of it, other days I want to sell it and get a formula vee or ford to actually race.

Alright, car is finally running good! I was going through alternators like nobodys buisness and thats because the exciter wire needed a 100ohm 1/4 resistor seems the alt light was not enough. Went with a cs144 alternator 140amp for the juice. The Electronic Water Pump is working great the Electric Fans working great the radiator is working well, the electric power steering pump is well different... it needs some more fine tuning I need to put another bracket on the alternator and theres a small air leak somewhere in the system I need to find as well as when I installed the jeep steering box it must have not been centered as I thought it was so ill have to fix that but not a big issue.

Does anyone know where to get rear gears and maybe a Posi or some type of spool style for the rear of these cars?

When I first joined the board with my 69 I remember seeing a a few guys however I can't find them right now.
