ok.. i was taking my top down and it went down.. and it was way hot out.. I noticed a little smoke from behind the seat and heard a gurgling noise.. now when i go to put the top up i can hear the motor running but the top doesn't move.. and some times i hear the gurgle type noise and some times i dont..

I can help the top along with 2 extra people and working the switch..


are the tops on the 1968 Delmont 88 hydraulic?

Yes, they're hydraulic.
I'd check the fluid level first, the pumps use type A transmission fluid. There are specific procedures for checking the level and topping off the reservoir if needed, also other service procedures and problem diagnostics for the system in the 1968 Fisher Body service manual. If you don't have a copy you can register for free at Wild about Cars Online/ Auto History Preservation Society and they have the '68 Fisher Body manual available for viewing online.
