What rear end came in the 1960 wagon?

I see no numbers and its being held on by 10 bolts on the yolk side not on the outside like most rear ends.

Just looking for an idea on what size rear end it is......

When you look at the yolk side, at the seven o'clock position (near the bolts)there is a single digit number and that is the code for the ratio which you will present to us later and we will devulge the secret code!!!

Its a drop out style 10 bolt i think 1956 to 1963 bop.
it looks like a 9 inch ford rear but a little bigger.parts are out there.

Pontiac OLds drop out rears

This is what they call the old GASSER rear.

IT has 10 bolt holding the pig in...BUT it is a 12 bolt rear and very strong rear.

POSI units are NOT available in the aftermarket - only what is out there from GM

They do sell FULL SPOOL units and gear sets.

Best to ask FAbcraft metal works in Texas he has the parts for these rears.

Different years had different axle spline counts also. I think your 1960 is in the good year zone of 31 spline and is pretty desireable drop out if you have a POSI .

Oh no

MAn that is too bad to here as you would probably get as much for the rear as you paid for the whole car...

IT IS STRONG!

IS it anti spin posi in there?

What a shame.

Well if there is anything left when your done please call me with the parts left over... really...

Well its just an old rear end i have, i have no clue what it is. I have no clue if its anti spin posi, its still under the old rusted out 60 wagon, but everything works as the car is a roller.
How much is the rear end worth?? I plan on selling it if i can get a nice 14bolt rear end or something with 4:11 or 4:56 gears already.

For that year it is a 9.25" drop out rear end. They were 31 spline axles from I think 57 or 58 on. I know olds and caddies got them I'm not sure about the pontiacs and buicks... They are strong as hell a guy I know used to run them on the strip
