Not in the stock axle, as it's a 7.5/7.675 housing.

I'm thinking of switching the ring and opinions out to 8.6/8.5 gears..30 spline carrier and I don't know if I would have to change the axle shafts tho...

8.5 and 7.5 rears both 10 bolts but not the same

Are you understanding that you need a 8.5 HOUSING axle assembly and if you have a stock 1978-1983 g-body car NON had 8.5 rears. ALL were 7.5
1984-1987 Grand National and t-type turbo cars had the 8.5 and the 442 also got the 8.5 optional bigger rear end axle housing assembly.

Regular cutlass only had the 7.5 from 78 - 87

Top picture is 8.5 and the bottom is 7.5 rear. you can not switch inner parts from one to the other.

hope that is clear for everyone to understand.

axle shaft upgrades

10 bolt 7.5 G-body rears were 26 spline axles and can be upgraded to 28 spline axles with swapping out a 1990-2002 7.625 posi or open carrier. and then buy the correct 28 spline axle shafts

10 bolt 8.5 Gn and 442 rears were 28 spline stock and can be upgraded to 30 spline with again 1990 -1996 gm limited slip posi or open one wheel peel carrier that were 30 spline or aftermarket 30 spline carrier of coarse.
Then buy again the correct aftermarket 30 spline axle shafts.

I can get anyone the parts to do these conversions for each of the rears.

You really should determine how much diff you need to do the job you want the car to do.

If you are mostly street bound and are above the 12 sec mark at the track the 7.5 upgraded rear will do the job just fine.
