Sourcing U-Joint Strap Help

I'm trying to find a replacement U-joint strap for my 72 cutlass. 350/350 ci combo.

I thought the Dorman part here would fit
http://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/u...6_485369_7790/

But the U is too tall.

I know there was a thread a while back where someone found them, but I can't find it in my search.

Where have you guys gotten them?

I used ACDELCO 45U0505.
That Dorman is for a different type of U-joint, not the GM 3R. I am assuming you have the stock style 3R u-joints with the inside clips.

Awesome. Those are readily available a lot of places. Thanks for that. They're cheap too!

Call Denny at Dennys Driveshafts. He'll have the good bolts too.

NAPA has them all also. Just have to futz around with a knowledgeable counter man who knows how to read a catalog.

Part number for dorman 10 bolt 8.5 bolt and strap kit.

Here is what you need if you want dorman -
Part Number: 81001

Your u - joint cap is 1.125

The other one is for a 1310 1.063 cap size. Taller and skinner. Bolts are too short also... That strap kit is more for a dana rear with a 1310 joint.

Have you used the 81001? I held one up next to the one I removed from my car and it seemed to be bigger than the one on the car.

That AC Delco part number seems to be right! Got them in the mail today. They seem to match right up to the traced parts. Haven't installed them(hopefully tomorrow), but thanks for the recommendation OddBall!
