12 Bolt Chevy value?
I have a 1971 12 bolt w/ 3.31 non posi, no axles and unknown gear/bearing condition. Basically a core?
I have a few people interested and a loose offer of $300.00
Seems fair but I figured $500.00 based on some local CL ads.
Thing is I didn't follow those and find out what they actually sold for.
Be nice to take the 3 bills and be done. Unless its value is higher.
Too broke to rush into a low price(if it is?)
Thoughts?

violent agreement?
I understood "$200-$350 premium" to mean that amount over and above the price of the similar but different wider 68-72 more common units.
I know when a guy offered to sell me the 1968 O-type 3.08 12-bolt posi suitable for a '68 442 many years ago, for $125, I could not get there fast enough. I was running a 3.08 open at the time.
Later, when I went to install the 3.08 posi, I was refurbishing it for install when the 4.33 posi came along. I secretly bought it and installed that instead. Then let the wife test drive it.
:-)
"This thing won't shift out of 2nd gear"
"Try manually shifting it, I think you will get two shifts"
"screeeeeeech"
"What did you do to this thing? You put GEARS in it, didn't you?!"

All of the 12-bolt Chevy rears are sought after by the Chevelle guys,as well as others. The earlier 64-67 style is rarer than the 68-72,making them even more valuable.
The 3:31 ratio is also a sought after ratio. There are a few aftermarket companies making that ratio now,but the original GM's still bring at least $100.00 for a nice set.
The value of a 12-bolt Chevy housing will vary, depending on condition,if it is nice or pitted, and if there was ever anything done to it.
$300.00 for a good housing & good 3:31's inside,is on the cheap side. They should be throwing their money at you as soon as possible. I could care less about the factory axle shafts. They aren't that great, and are usually worn on the bearing surface, which is probably why they are missing.
