Driver's exhaust manifold removal

How am I supposed to remove the exhaust manifold on a 1965 cutlass? (This is the drivers side). The manifold in unbolted and free to move, but hits the steering shaft if I move it upwards, and hits the starter if I move it towards the rear of the car.

In case anyone needs this in the future, unbolt the wiring harness bracket and the manifold slips out towards the rear of the car.
