Stupid Purchase

Stupid Purchase
I purchased two 1967 Outside Mirrors assuming I could put one on the passenger side. I even drilled the holes on the passenger side before I realized that I can not turn the mirror far enough down (it impacts the post) to make it useful.
I started to buy a pair of the 1968 mirrors but then I noticed that they attach with screws from the inside of the door skin, so I'm afraid to make another purchase till I learn more.
So, my question. Have any of you guys added a mirror to the passenger side and, if so, what mirror(s) did you use.
Thanks!

Now here's an interesting bit of trivia. The parts book shows that the outside mirrors on the 1967 full size cars are the same on both sides - also P/N 230365!

P/N 230365 is the RH outside mirror package for the 1967 A-body cars. Fusick used to repro these, but no longer does. I got one from them years ago. The LH outside mirror is P/N 230368.

Thanks, I am aware of that but I have the same problem of adjusting the right side (passenger) to see something from the drivers view. However maybe the intention in 66 was not to avail that view for the driver as opposed to the passenger. Interesting that 67 had a right and left part number. I haven't found a part number if any for a right (driver) and left (passenger) side. Nor is there a mention of right and left in the assembly manual and I also checked the 66 Fisher Body Manual.
Interesting topic.
Thanks

I assumed that also, however my passenger side mirror will not adjust enough to be used by the driver. I have yet to find reference to positioning or adjusting either driver or passenger side mirrors. No reference of dimensions in the 66 assembly manual, 66 repair manual or 66 Fisher Body manual. That probably would help.
Thanks

Just a thought, has anyone ever placed a 3+ inch stick on bubble mirror like what the truckers use and see if there is enough curvature and adjustment to see behind from the drivers side? I did this on my 55 to eliminate blind spots even though the mirror had enough adjustment as installed. I have never regretted it... Tedd

My 442 came with a factory remote mirror on the left side. I always install passenger side mirrors (I usually have to buy drivers) on my cars with them usually working OK. I have someone hold them in place while I sit in the drivers seat and make sure that they can adjust and not interfere with the vent window operation.
The one that I put on my 67 442 works just fine. I believe I bought it from Fusick. Here are some photos of mine. Sorry about the cockeyedness of them.

If the repo mirror that Fusick sells for the 66 F85/Cutlass is correct and can be used for the passenger side also, given that the adjustment capability is the same, how can the driver make use of the passenger side mirror without a change in position on the door?
That is all I am trying to figure out. My car has a mirror on both doors already. I don't know the history of the mirrors. I just can't adjust the passenger side mirror to make it useable when I am driving. Thanks for your patience.
