66 cutlass convertible steering rag joint
Finally got around to doing my wiring, got original fuse box redone from american wiring. Been looking at it all winter and finally got around to getting under the dash. Of course its in 70s and i should have done it in february. Oh well..I took out the steering column to make a little more room and realized the rag joint is probably original. I had car since 87. Went to look at different ones online and mine looks different. The 2 "pins or studs" on mine are different sizes Appproximently 9/32 and 9/16. all the ones ive seen have two same size studs. ill try loading a pic

The size of the studs isn't really a big deal. What is a big deal is the ground wire that connects one side of the coupler to the other side. That is what makes the ground for the horn circuit. You can buy a rebuild kit that has a new rubber and new studs.

thanks. it doesnt looik that bad but it is original. or at least since 1987. in thge pics in post #6 the pic on left is original, pic on rite is a new one i bought several years ago. (been planning on replacing it awhile). Will there be a problem in the different spacing around the studs? Theres more of a gap in new model. Or is there a different part i should use?

About 15 years ago i had one tear apart on another car. i turned the wheels while motor was off(no power steering), and ripped the joint apart. Thats why id rather replace this one while column is already out
