Found the POP tags under the seat of my 1964 Cutlass 4 speed car
Hi all
Well, actually I found these a couple years ago. But they were rusty and I didn't do anything with them at the time, just put them in the garage. I was digging through the shelves looking for something else when I came across the tags again. I lightly wire brushed them and one came out real well, the other is pretty crusty but I was able to read it. I didn't realize they had different information on them, one about the buyer and one of the car. I was also surprised that the car one showed it was a 4 speed car, I didn't think they would bother putting that option on it. I also found a couple typo's! So whomever was stamping these out may have been in a hurry. One other detail I found interesting. I purchased the car from a guy up in the Willamette Valley and he told me the car came from over near the Idaho border. According to the trim tag it was sold to someone in a town just a few miles from me! I've got a last name and P.O. box, not sure that's enough information to try and track down the original owners family. It would be fun to have information on the original owner of the car!

Note the trim tag body number is not correct on the POP tags, 6283 instead of 6203

Note the vin shows a letter E and the POP shows a letter F in the vin

Hey John. I reread your post and the “E” on the VIN is actually an “F”, like shown on the POP. It’s just a little weathered. Interestingly, the data plate shows 4D build date but the sale date on the POP is 7/30/64. That’s a late sale for the 64 model year.
