Pics of my 72 Cutlass S

I took these yesterday and I thoughthink they looked cool.

Also, has anyone here put the quarter skins on their car? Do they come up as high as the vinyl top trim? Mines staying to rust there.

Thanks.

The grilles were installed by the original owner. They look better, more evil looking, than stock grilles. I do get some flack sometimes at car shows because it has a 442 grille in it like I'm trying to pass it off as a real 442 even though that's the only 442 emblem on the car.

Always curious on these - could you install a Cutlass emblem on them with little fanfare or do they not match up too close? No disrespect to anyone but '72's Supreme & S had the worst grilles out of the '70-72 IMO.

I don't think the emblems line up to good. When I restore it I'm going to change the exterior color to Antique Pewter and lose the vinyl top. I'm also going to shave all the emblems and put SSI wheels on it. But that's all a few years away.

I've seen cars locally that change the 442 emblems out to 350 ones.

With some finesse the cutlass ones can be made to fit. You've got to match the holes in the grilles up to the emblems and i don't think all the pins line up.

carefully placed double sided tape would be best,i think.

But who cares what other people think.

I dig the green color, and the vinyl top. BTJM.
I have a repop skin that's been floating around with me for years.
The panel comes up to the point of the rear window and carries up a little higher to the rear. I'm sure it'll cover the vinyl trim seam.
It DOES NOT go up as high as the original panel/roof seam

The car and the grills look great. I'd tell any Jack *** who made a comment that you were trying to pull something to GFY.

These are mine. 442 grilles with Supreme plastic backing plates. They cover the original holes and look good.

I like this approach. It's subtle yet solid in appearance and makes the right statement. Plus no drilling the hood for the Oldsmobile script that would have been needed for the W29 hood.

Did you have to drill different holes to mount that on the repro grill?

Really nice car. I'm stunning what a big difference to the model year 73...
The color is awesome. Is it the original first paint?

Best Regards

The 72 model year was actually a forced carryover. It was originally intended to be the introduction of the colonnade series we know as the 73.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know on the quarters.

I think it was lowered or the springs are wore out. It bottoms out on everything. I've been putting off rebuilding the suspension. It's due though.

It has one repaint. The original color is Pinehurst green. When it was repainted they got the color to light. All of the jams are still original green though. I'm still torn on if I'll repaint it green again.

I do like that! I also need an OAI hood.

I believe that I had to drill one maybe 2 through the webbing. I just thought that it looked good to me as it is
not original.
