Refinishing Plastic Inner Fenders

I am knee deep rebuilding the front end of my Cutlass. I am replacing front bushings, ball joints and front and rear springs, as well as replacing my power drums with front disks.

I pulled off the drivers inner fender to gain better access and will pull off the other side too, to replace the splash shields.

Has anyone ever successfully refinished the plastic inner fenders? Mine are black. I removed some paint overspray and cleaned them up a little by using a mild abrasive pad, but they sure don't look like new. Any ideas?

Be careful, I about ruined a pretty good one-wasn't thinking and used a wire brush and a degreaser. Couldn't see how bad I had scratched it until it dried.
