'73 Supreme getting a big block

Just picked up a truck bed full of goodies a week ago. Got a complete 455 with a rebuilt Turbo 400. Also had most of a second motor's worth of parts thrown in with the deal.

Currently, the complete engine is on a stand as I tear it down to see what I have to work with. Right now, if the internals look like they're in good shape, I am thinking leave it mostly as-is but add a mild cam (any thoughts?, I am still deciding which one), intake, and heads (J heads right now, unfortunately). Any opinions, tips, advice is more than welcome.

The car is getting new carpet and new bucket 'racing' style seats right now. Planning to drive it as-is and make a few test 'n' tune passes with the 350 in it now (just for S&G's) as I make gradual progress with the 455. Working out of town right now and not in a position to buy everything all at once just yet...hoping to have the 455 ready for the next drag race season at Pacific Raceways.

More to come as this progresses, might get better about taking pictures as I go.

Good eyes Joe, Will need a short tail with that 73 or cut drive shaft. The J on the heads stands for JUNK. I had the same heads on my 73 Hurst. Replaced with a set of G heads @ 10 years ago. Then put edelbrock intake and carb on, what a nice improvement. There was some pathetic HP in 1973 for our olds 455s.

I had figured on a driveshaft anyway going from the TH350 to the TH400 but perhaps the short tail would be easier? As for the heads, I have been thinking I will go with a set of Edelbrock heads so the J was not a big concern for me.

Looking forward to a cool build (and something to keep me out of trouble too).
