front springs
Anybody know if the front springs on my 68 Cutlass are pig tail or flat ground on the top? Before anybody gets after me "BUY A CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL " I did, it's at home, I'm not. Thanks.... Gil

good question
I vote for pigtail, by feeble memory
but, as I may well be wrong, don't decide anything based on this
A peek at the shape of the frame where the top of the spring sits should show if it has the pigtail recess or more of a smooth seat.

They are Square on one end and tangential on the other.

No! Pigtail end is reduced diameter like a pig's tail, curled around tightly. The inner pigtail hole is about 2.5" x 3". Tangential is the full diameter of the spring, 3.625" with the end coil wound a bit closer to the next coil so the end is almost touching the next coil.
