ok...i started some what rebuilding my front end, i just finished the passengers side. today i started the driver side thinking it would be done alot faster since i already did one side but no. previous owner put on some aftermarket headers "doug thorley" and the pipes are in the way of the lower control arm bolt. The header is off but i didn't want to completely remove it, so i tried to wiggle it around and get some space for that bolt but not enough room
I would pull the header totally off but the dip stick is in the way and it looks like the steering shaft might be as well?

any ideas or anyone thats dealt with this help me out

Remove the motor mount bolt and jack the engine up and out of the way to remove the header. Then proceed with your front end repair.

If the header is hitting the nut and extended threads area, you can grind off the extra length, or in some positions you can reverse the direction of the bolt. If the bolt head is too thick, you can get a button head allen bolt.

Might be able to cut off the offending bolt and replace it by inserting the bolt from the other direction.

GREAT ideas, i was just looking and was thinking about just cutting the bolt, since i live so close to napa i can just get another. Will the bolt be fine the other way?

Seems as if I wanted to do that back in the 90s and the frame was in the way of the rear LCA bolt. Been a long time and I may not be remembering correctly, though. Might be a viable option for the front LCA bolt.

Also don't completely remove the old bolt before starting the new one. The control arm will slide out of position due to spring tension.

Search function saved me. I cut that booger off and inserted the new one from the other direction.
