searched upper ball joint for 67 98

Hello together,

I want to change my ball joints. At RockAuto I find only the lower.Where
can I get the upper? except usapartsupply and fusick.

Adjust possibly the ball joints from another car? Maybe from the Corvette?
Is it true that there are upper ball joints for the left and right side?

thanks for your help

These folks are going to need to know the year and model of your car. Advance auto has both upper and lower for my '71 Supreme.

If its an A body then typical things will interchange. When I bought all my suspension stuff I just ordered it all for a 1972 chevlle. There was more options price and quality wise this way through summit racing.

I inquired directly to spicer to see if they made BJs for A bodies....no go stuck with moog or trw. He did suggest inquiring with one of the custom front end guys. Global west etc...

They didn't use to carry it and still may not that's the right side only no listing for the left, yes they are different. It's $189.00 for 1 ball joint.

Sorry, you're right. I forgot the Bj, and the type.
And it's right. it is a 1967 98 convertible.

I was on the website of napaonline.I do not see the prices. Probably only when I sign up.
@ oldcutlass: the price of $ 189 was that of napaonline?

Yes, it was NAPA online. To get a price you need an American Zip code. You can plug in mine 76049.

I saw this thread and was curious. So I just got off the phone with one of my suppliers and these balljoints are three days out, could get both sides for $175 each plus 16 bucks to ship them to me. Rareparts is the only company currently producing these units. I see your outside the US so that will likely complicate things a lot

Kanter lists a complete front end rebuild kit for the 1965-70 full size cars for $259, which includes upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower bushings, outer tie rod ends, and sway bar links in that price.

20 bucks says it comes with the wrong (or no) upper balljoints!! But that may be worth a phone call.

I take Paypal...

Kanter specializes in providing suspension parts you can't get anywhere else. I got ball joints for my 62 F-85 from them, which have long been unavailable anywhere else.

So, a short report.
I have almost everything ordered from RockAuto.
Only the upper ball joints I got from Usapartsupply. They have the upper joint now universal as right or left. With a standard price.

Let's see if it was the right decision.

I will report then.

I just took the LH upper and lower out of a 68 98- sawed the a-arm off to get the spindle.

Didn't pay much attention to it, but the L/R thing might be because of the speedo cable run thru the LH spindle.

Correct. The LH spindle has a hole drilled through it for the cable.

I presume that makes the upper ball joint shorter or something.

If anyone wants the used joint I took out, you can have it.
Measure it for reproduction uses
Clean and use it
whatever

Coopercutlass - are you saying the '67 98 BJs and other suspension parts cross with a 1972 Chevelle?

No, he said IF it's an A-body, which it is not. Seriously, does an Olds Ninety Eight look anything like a Cutlass or Chevelle? The Ninety Eight is the C-body platform, though it shares suspension components with the B-body platform (Delta 88).

Thanks - could have left out the part that began with "seriously...." wading through trying to educate myself since the 67 98 is not so common. I appreciate the help though

The UPPER Ball Joints are OBSOLETE and have been for eons -- they fit ONLY 1965 - 1970 OLDS FUll size and LEFT and RIGHT are mirror images -- the old TRW #s are
10205 and 10206 --- I have them N.O.S. American made.....

And on an unrelated subject, I have the 1961 - 1963 Olds Cutlass / F85 Upper and Lower Ball Joints -- N.O.S. USA - made ---- and even 1 last set of 4 N.O.S. ++ OEM GM ++ in the old GM tubes!!!!!!!!!!

So, a short report of my experiences. I have renovated my front axle. And
i've ordered all the parts from RockAuto.Except the ball joints.

Now I have everything reassembled.
And I must say all the parts have passed without problems.

I had to fight to separate my axis. But build together was not a problem.
