Rag joint installation..66 442

I'm putting a new rag joint on my 66 442. Does the opening for the clamp fit over the flat spot on the steering gear shaft?

yes... i just put mine on yesterday... also '66 442

The thru bolt goes into that recess.

Rag joint installation...66 442

Is there a trick to getting the rag joint clamp to slide onto the steering gear shaft? I fiddled around with it this afternoon and I could not get it started on the shaft.

There is an area on the rag joint that has no splines. This area must mate up with the flat (splineless) area on the steering gear shaft.
