New Centerlink issue?

I replaced the centerlink and all other steering components on a 65 442 for nearly a year. Please take a look and let me know if this is normaly on our cars or i need a new centerlink again.

From the video, I can't really tell if the center link stud is moving in the center link or if the taper doesn't fit properly in the idler/pitman arms and is rocking there. Obviously any movement in the center link itself is a sign of a bad center link. Slop in the tapers is either the wrong part or badly worn idler/pitman arms.

There are two different, non-interchangeable center links for the 1965 cars. Do you have the correct one?

1964 & 1965 have , as Joe P. has indicated, two (2) different ones......
a 13/16" diameter bar is a DS682 a 7/8" diameter bar is a DS740
They ARE different and non-interchangeable....... compare your old to the "new"

I DO have both in stock, NEW, all the time........

I'm guessing that the OP's original center link is long gone and he only has the replacement one that may or may not be correct. Note that the idler and pitman arms are different depending on the center link. It's possible that the idler arm has also been changed, but I'm guessing that the pitman arm is original. You might be able to get a part number off the pitman arm to figure out which center link you should have.

Pitman 5693762 and 5693764 use the 7/8" center link
Pitman 5679207 and 5679209 use the 13/16" center link

It looks to be the correct size. To check, remove the castle nuts and see if the assemblies just fall apart. If they do its mismatched undersized. Oversized flat out will not fit together.

Meaning what? That's the one that was installed? Did you check the pitman arm to see which one the car is supposed to have?

OK, 5679208 casting number is P/N 5679209, which uses the 13/16" center link, so that is correct. That at least eliminates one variable.
