what is your cars name? and why
I searched this site, and didn't fine a discussion on what you name your car, most of use, if not all of us, have a nick name, or pet name for are cars! I have a 73 442 4 speed, and I named it gear jammer, ( because it's a 4 speed, and I like the song) I also have a 71 Buick skylark convertible , it's name is O'l rusty ( it was rusted away bad, every time I worked under it, rust fell on me) Replaced , floors, trunk floors, wheel wells , Quarters, everything. had a 72 firebird, in high school, named Beth , old girl friends name ( you all know why I named it after her, good old days). So what do you call your car? and why?

66 Cutlass Midnight Rider
Guys:
I call my 66 Cutlass "Midnight Rider" after the Gregg Allman song and that was when I used to get into trouble, midnight. Now I can barely make it past 9:30pm before I start to yawn!
Thanks, Ron

The '71 Cutlass was dubbed "The Beast" around '85 and that has sort of stuck. My first car was a '72 Green Ford LTD which was named the "Green B!tch", "Green Boat" or simply "POS" (spelled out) After that I rarely gave them pet names with one exception, my 1989 VW Fox was called "The Fahrvergnügenmobile" for obvious reasons.
Except for those it has always been:
The Dodge
The Honda
The Mustang
The Super Coupe
The Benz
The <enter make here>...not very original

My 54 Olds is named "Lessie" after my maternal grandmother. I credit my wife with coming up with the name. She was such a sweet little lady who passed away in 1964 (my senior year in high school) at the age of 84.

My '71 is named Cherry Cola; Cherry for short. I wanted to paint her red when I first brought her home and "Cola" because the 92 year old gal that owned the car before me was named Pecola. So Cherry Cola.

It's "The Red Car". We also have a Black Car, a Blue Truck, and a White Jeep. However, in my early 20s, I owned a series of white Dynamic and Delta 88s. Each of these was called "The Ghetto Bomber" by my friends and "Moby Olds" by my dad.

I call mine The Liberty. It's my first car and it freed me from the clutches of our increasingly dysfunctional and largely insolvent mass transit system. Even if it wasn't so mismanaged I'd still take car ownership over depending on the bus any day.

I call my stuff, The Olds, The Vette (71), The Caddy, The Blue Car (2011 Taurus SHO). Pretty non descript. The Caddy is one of two. One a 2003 DTS (daughters car), one is a 75 Eldo convert. The kids are fighting over who gets the SHO when I move up to the CTS-V. Could be a while, but it only has 33k on it. Lowered, Corsa, Livernois tune (450 HP), Airaid.

My '72 Cutlass Supreme is named Louise after my paternal Grandmother, my Grandfather ordered it for her.
My '35 Dodge Coupe is named the Haynesville Hoodlum or Hoodlum for short. This is what my Father lettered on the side. Early 60's period drag car style.
My '67 Stepside C10 is named Ol' Blue for obvious reasons.
My daily '01 Tahoe is Baby. My youngest named it that.

I have not been big into naming cars. My Rallye 350 when I had it was refered to mostly as "the yellow car". The car I am building now so far has been refered to as "the W-30" Because i only have one. If I were to give it a name i would call it Larry after the guy I got it from, He passed away before he could see it complete.

I've ruined relationships with some wonderful women over my cars.
I love my cars!
I live alone, mainly because of my cars and am a very happy guy!
As much as I love my cars, they're, basically, still not flesh and blood or alive.
They are machines.
I love my machines!
Even though I really don't care for most of the humans I know,
I don't feel the type of relationship with my cars that I do with humans that have names.
The closest I've come to naming a car is a '69 "98" I had years ago that I called
"The Green Monster" only because I hated the color, a pewky avacado green.
Loved the car just hated the color.
Like lemoldsnut, I have multiple cars, so I call them by what they are.
If I had just one, it would probably be "The Cutlass" or "The 4-4-2" or "The Olds".

My 71 olds is "Swoopy." When purchased it had rusted rear lid. The replacement rear deck had a graphic of a menacing Owl, wings spread talons out for attack. Hence a buddy of mine nick named it Swoopy. It stuck and while the owl is no longer there, the name remains. One fellow member asked long ago for a pic, but hence the x has photos and I don't have access and she's in no hurry for any favors. Heck, she took all photos and I could care less, I'd just like the ones of the car. Women argh...

I must admit, being from the UK I call my 68 Cutlass 'The Yank'
I call my 55 Ford Consul 'Roger' as the registration plate is ROJ. And I call my BMW Alpina 'The German' - as its German and I couldn't think of anything else more appropriate

My friend calls my car "Prehistoric Dog" after a Red Fang song because it's just an ugly, overly simple, not shiny, throwback of a car that kicks ***.
Here's a video of the song(which interestingly enough has a 60'ds cutlass in it

I'll play. These threads are always amusing to me. The 74 H/O was always referred to as "The Hurst" growing up and my dad's 70 cutlass was "The Convertable". This past September when I got the car back my boy fell in love with it and has named it "Shiny Car". Here is a couple vids of his reaction when we got home with it. Hopefully they work
:
:
He named my Gt500 "Shelby" pretty self explanatory.
My DD is an old 7.3 diesel. We came out to her one morning after letting her idle on a calm morning. He didn't like the smell of the diesel fumes. He has named my truck "Stinky truck"
My wife's kia (can see in the 2nd vid) he hates with a passion. He's named it "chicken lettuce". Don't ask because I have no idea lol

I've never named any of my own cars but I had a girlfriend when I was in grad school who called her Hyundai named 'Attila'. Attila the Hyundai. When I was growing up, the only car we ever had that got a name was a '59 Olds Fiesta 88 station wagon, silver with a white roof, that we called 'the Gray Ghost' after the Gray Man of Pawley's Island, S.C., a spectral gray clad figure said to warn people there of impending hurricanes. Lucky are those who see him and heed his warning, or so the story goes.
