Scored four 8 tracks in one day!
Got a lead on a guy with some Oldsmobile parts, so of course I called & called till I could finally meet up with him. Apparently he & his father used to have several Oldsmobiles & collected a lot of parts over the years. He is a bit "eccentric" shall we say, but did have some parts. He said he had some am-fm stereos & dragged them out of his basement for me. I was excited till I saw that they were for the big Oldsmobiles from the late 60's & maybe '70-'72? They were indeed am-fm stereo radios though with the separate amps & one wonderbar also. I didn't buy these, but still can if anyone is interested.
Then he proceeded to bring out four 8 track players, one '70, & three of the '71-'72 variety. Of course I bought them all! One has a very nice case & face & is spoken for. Two of the others have the typical cracked cases with the parts mia. The other has one crack on the side, but the piece is still there. Look for these soon in the parts for sale section.
Just wanted to share an exciting day & to say that there are parts still out there!
Here are some pix of the stuff.

Hey oldspackrat: Those 1960's-1970's Oldsmobile 88 and 98 radios are still in demand. If you can get an AM/FM Stereo Radio, you might be able to make some money.
My '67 Delta 88 parts car had one that didn't work. After spending $500 it sounded good. I didn't want to spend that much but at least I have the correct radio instead of an aftermarket one.
It's definitely 'old school'... Instead of left and right stereo... you only have two speakers one in front and one in back... but it's still stereo.
Maybe you should purchase the rest of them. Remember, they don't make these radios any more!

Turn your head and look out the window to hear?
The last guy that told me to turn my head sideways was wearing a white lab coat and latex gloves and then told me to cough.
Do you have to sit backwards to hear stereo speakers on the rear deck?
It's all a question of balance, I have a Moody Blues album about it.
What's the difference between the '70 version of the tape player and the '71 and '72 versions other than the woodgrain faceplates between all three of them??

Hey Scott,
In your photobucket album, I see what looks like a blue '75 Ninety Eight. Is that car in a yard by you and if so, is it still around?
thanks!
John
