Not the sewer but my bathtub drain plugged up during one of the worst rainstorms I have ever seen on a work night. It took me about 6 hours laying in the dirt under my house to fix. I learned more than I ever wanted to about plumbing.

The same reason my A/C died on a 100* Saturday morning on a holiday weekend.
I learned then that when you start calling, say you are calling to get some quotes on a unit IN CASE it goes out. You never tell them that is has already gone out. What's the difference?? About 400 bucks!
I 'lived' out in the workshop that weekend (has separate AC unit) and had the main unit replaced that Tuesday to avoid the $200 overtime charge.
When in the workshop, I discovered i had a family of skunks living underneath. That started "Rob & Mark's great skunk fiasco of 2004".
Mark is my neighbor that helped me to eradicate them. That was quite a story for sure.
Like I believe, trouble usually comes in sets.

Cause sewers are rotten and selfish and know how to screw you out of a weekend of golfing, fishing, hunting etc. Sewers also belong to a little known union whose code is to "not work" in the dark.
Other than that, I have no clue. Last time I tried to keep a preventive maintenance program going on my hot water tank, the pressure release valve stuck open. Yup, it was about 8:00 pm. (don't even ask) So now, I just wait for stuff to break or wear out. There is no escape.....

You know plumbers love kids who do that!
I am convinced that WHAT one puts down the drain helps determines the number of plumber visits. I have been very lucky so far. After 15 years, i have never had a plumber out, nor the plunger. I live alone, don't cook, and never really have guests over.
Of course I shouldn't be saying anything too loudly... With my luck a bird will drop a tennis ball down the soil stack vent on the roof, right about now.
