Question The first day of spring in Texas

After burning the midnight oil in the garage working on Lady, I came to a good stopping point, grabbed a beer, and went outside for some fresh air and to stretch my sore body.
Here is what I saw after opening the door:

SNOW!!

And it's accumulating!!

This sure explained why the garage kept getting colder and my fingers getting number. The minight oil makes very little heat.

Heck, I was hoping to post a picture of my resident rabbit (the Easter bunny) as a symbol of spring, but he went back in his burrow.
I will make a snowman tomorrow instead...

Goofed up TX weather...

It snowed all through the night....

Sound familiar? I said that the last time this happened lat month...
Well winter just stomped spring... I have over 7" of accumulation and it is still coming down!
Today is MARCH 21 - first day of "spring".
It is below freezing, so the trees aren't being pulled to the ground.
Birds are a bit PO'ed because I took down the feeders after running out of food.

Yep, this is supposed to be spring....

This is the most snow I have ever seen here in one winter here.
2" on Christmas, 12.5" on Alice's B-day / V-day, and 6" on the first day of spring. 20.5"!

Sad face!!! That sucks! I heard about Oklahoma too, but not Texas. We're going to get rain tonight and tomorrow - hope none of the white stuff!

Yup, felt great here all week, mid 70s I'd say. This was the LAST thing I expected. When I went to bed last night around 12, there was 2" accumulation on the cooler outside. May not sound like much, but for all the years I've lived in TX, the most snow I can remember is a light dusting in January. Then back up to the 60's by February. Happy first day of spring(it is, isn't it?).

Should be 60 by Monday. My folks up in West Virginia are boasting 70's today.

Okay so the official snow total was an official 6" in my area. I had 7" in low wind areas.
The guys in Canada are cruising in 75*+ and us in the south are froze over.
I think the world has turned upside down...

Yea, i heard Tues is supposed to get back to 70*, just like it was 2 days ago. My neighbors were smart and did not plant their annual tomato crops...

At least i was able to work on my door panels in the house today - the garage is frigid!

I guess it's up north , they said we had one of the warmest winters on record. same in most of Ontario and a lot of the NWT were really warm.
The biggest thing was the amount of precipitation some areas got and not so much temperature. Unfortunately if you get a lot during winter then you get snow.
we did not get that much snow and sometimes got rain so I can't complain.

Had 7+ inches in SEK. Damp, heavy snow with 30-40mph winds and needless to say all the roads were drifted shut come Sunday morning. Luckily it didn't get below 30f and was near 40f Sunday afternoon.........gonna be 55f today and melt most of it.

The gravel roads will now become nearly impassable..........again.

We only had 1" in Irving, but it was still cold out. Not much fun lying on the cold concrete of the carport replacing the transmission gasket and filter while the snow melts on ya!

Better to be laying in melted snow than in tranny fluid...

Honestly I was doing both. The old cork gasket had leaked quite a bit there already. At least when I pulled the pan I got most of what was in it to land in the catch tub.

Not much fun... I prefer my tranny fluid baths in summer.
When I change my fluid, I will need a catch tub the size of a bathtub...

Next time you have your pan off install a drain plug in it to make your life easier next time.

It was beautiful; silent and still. It only lasted for 24 hours though. In two days it was back to 70. The flakes were big and wet so they made a faint "flump" when they hit the ground.
Today will be 85 out, so spring decided to come back. Feels good to wear shorts and be able to feel your fingers and toes out there...

Want to see more snow? Here is when 12"+ fell on Feb. 12!
