Slides to digital photos?

I rediscovered some really neat old slides which includes a slide of my Mom and her brand new 72 Supreme. I want to get these converted to digital. Any of you done this? What's the best way? Thanks, Greg.

I had a bunch of slides, photos, and negatives to convert, and I did it myself with this:

Amazon Amazon

It comes with the necessary trays and caddies to hold slides and 35 mm negatives. I had some old Kodak 110 negatives as well dating to the 1970s, and I was able to find a separate caddy to hold them as well. The scanner comes with the necessary scanning software.

Not difficult. Quality of conversion directly proportional to cost of converting hardware.

I use a
device similar to this device similar to this
, found on Amazon.

I had Walmart transfer some 35 mm negatives to a CD a few years ago... Not sure if they still do that process, but can't hurt to ask the Walmart Photo Center...

If you are just doing a few just pay to have it done, but if you plan on doing a lot buy a good scanner and do it yourself. I had a mountain of family pictures in all kinds of formats, my kids bought me a Canon Canoscan 9000F years ago and it does a great job.

I had walmart do a hand full a few months back. Takes a week or so, as they send them to someone else. Pretty reasonable in cost.

If you have lots of them, by all means take advantage of the advice all ready given.

Thanks guys, I don't have a bunch. I think I will try the camera shop. The wife and I are planning to go in there for a large family portrait and I will ask them about the slides, Thanks for that, Pat.

Went to the camera shop in Lansing a few weeks ago and they acquired the family photo off the disc we got from photographer and left them the old slides I had from my Mom. I wanted 4 copies of each of the slides so it ended up costing about 180.00. Aprx 150.00 for the slides to prints. Family portrait is great. Slide reproduction to slides are all good except for 5 of them that are flipped! GEEZ, you would think backwards letters would be noticed! Well anyway, I'm not going to send them back as it is a hassle....
