Damn it's cold!
Cold has never bothered me until this year. I'd hear people complaining about it as they got older and didn't understand. I guess I got to "older" because this plain sucks. 9 degrees Sunday and I could only get the garage up to 24. Working Saturday and Sunday in the cold took it's toll.
trying to prep for the new lift coming Friday. I was feeling run down Monday.
Just 2 or 3 years ago I was on my back in the snow in the middle of January installing a transmission. I always heard there's a big change at 50, now I'm starting to feel it.
On another note: who else got hit with the single digits this week? Was going to take the kids skiing but when I saw the weather forecast we decided against it. -10 at Whiteface Mountain.

-12 on my way to work this morning. Of all days, my thermostat stuck and it got real hot just as I was getting to work. Just glad it didn't open while the engine was hot with -12 coolant in the radiator. I bet it would have cracked the heads.

How do people live there? How do you go anywhere? Seems like you would only be able to stay outside for a few minutes before your lungs froze. No way I could do that. It has been down to 14 here a couple days ago. That is really cold for Texas. I really hate cold weather and I guess that is why I live in Texas.

As long as its cold there might as well be snow - but I too tend to like winter less and less each year. I wonder often lately why my grandparents migrated to Chicago - didn't anyone tell them there were other places to go?

Made it to -4 here, -14 inland a couple of days ago, Lake Michigan keeps us along the lakeshore warmer than those further inland. it's the wind chill that really makes it a pain in the ****. We've had about 20" of snow since Christmas, with another 10-12" by next Tuesday. Bundle up for the weather, I'll go down by Lake Michigan to take pics, and there's always a stiff wind this time of year, just gotta prepare. It was 12° in Anchorage, Alaska Sunday, that's warm for them.

The temperatures in Boston have been -5 to -10 at night, and single digits during the day.
What makes it much worse is the wind, which drives the "feels like" temperatures feel like -20 to -30.
The worst cold here since 1872.
Taking it's toll on pipes, batteries, and wildlife.

Cold is tough on infrastructure and doing stuff. Snow and ice is tough on travel. I think I prefer cold and dry over snow and I prefer snow over ice. I'm a native Floridian, so Indiana does not have any summer that can stop me. We have 9 months of good weather, and 3 months from mid Dec to mid Mar that can have questionable weather of either very cold or snow/ice, of which we get about 2 weeks of that scattered across those three months.
I would like to retire a little further south, like Kentucky Lake area. Of course, I hear it is warmer than it used to be in the winters here with less snow.

I'm on the Louisiana Gulf Coast for the holidays. Spent the last week emptying out my deceased father-in-law's detached garage/shop and one of the storage buildings and filling up a roll off dumpster. First several days were mid-30s and 95% humidity. Then it started raining with no change in temperature. Then the temp dropped into the 20s.
I can't wait to get back to Phoenix where it's dry and 70 degrees.

I remember the winter 93-94 up here in Michigan. Several weeks -20 temps. It was so cold that I was wearing carhhart coveralls inside! I also recall it finally hit 30 degrees, and sunny. I was wearing a t-shirt outside cause it felt like summer.

Best line I heard was from a guy who worked for me. A woman was complaining about the cost of the job. She said she only pays the doctor $50 a visit and he's a doctor. His response was " When you can bring your problems to me that's what I'll charge until then break out the checkbook."
Finally got into the 20's today. Not so bad. Ely going to hook up plow now then catch some ZZZ's. The only way to survive in this city is to hustle. Keep the blood moving keep the cold out.

I remember that, Pat. I worked in building maintenance in Alma. There was a temp sensor on the roof that measured outside air temperature. It seems like I remember the air temp didn't get above zero for close to a month. I hope this one doesn't last that long!

Just sitting here waiting for the snow to start, I'm in the 12 to 16 inch area on the map. Going to have to be ready to clear the snow as soon as it stops snowing at that is when the wind is really going to pick up and the temps will drop. As mentioned earlier, it really does feel colder the older you get, I really need to move south !!!

My boots and gloves get replaced every couple of years it seems, cuz they ain't warm enough anymore, hafta find something warmer. Supposed to get to -15 tonight inland, and I have 6" of fresh snow to blow out tomorrow morning,, with up to 14"+ over the next couple of days. The roof gets cleaned off Saturday, too much weight.

Man am I glad to be out of the damp cold of the Gulf Coast.
Here in Phoenix the temp hit 80 yesterday, then a front blew through with a bunch of rain (yes, it finally rained!) and the high temp today is 64.
Oh it's good to be back home! Once the rain passes, I can go cruising with the top down.

We are at 62.3" inches of snow so far this year, 27" above average, but hey, 3 days of 40 plus degrees and even 50°, followed by rain, freezing rain, and another snow storm. Only 3 months of winter to go.

Well after a few days of a 50+ degree heat wave we will get hit with below 20 weather for a while. Was trying to take the kids skiing this weekend but there's no snow anymore. If it's gonna be cold we should at least have snow. Oh well nothing to do but ride the wave.
