I gotta say that I really like this new Miller hood that I have. The lens has a lot of adjustability.

I finally found a use for that old non-autodarkening shield. My 8 and 14 year olds loved it.

I have a couple other hoods but on my travels to day I took a hold in your hand Harbor Freight cheapo that comes with welding equipment. Almost every stop someone was looking through it. Unlike the others shown it didn't warrant a picture.... Tedd

The sun was blocked about 95% where I live. I felt the air cool for a while but it didn't get darker than an overcast sky. Neat event but I'm still amazed how much hype it got in the news. I do remember partial eclipses in the past.

we had ~65% of the sun blocked in my area...just before eclipse time the nice sunny skies clouded over, i couldnt see any sun at all, then right at about totality the clouds disperse a little to the point where you could see the globe of the sun and the partial eclipse w the clouds acting as a perfect filter....after 4-5 minutes the clouds filled back in and you could see nothing!

and in the if theres no pics it didnt happen category theres this

Our friends at NASA want to remind us that the shade level should be 12 or higher for next time.

The eclipse was a bust in MN, or at least where I was. Very dense cloud cover blocked out the view. I was very young in 1979, but I do remember the eclipse from back then and it was pretty amazing for a young kid. Northern Minnesota was a nearly perfect location back in 1979. Hopefully the weather cooperates more in 2024.

We can predict events in our solar system, like a solar eclipse, with great precision many years before the event occurs, but we can't accurately predict the weather a couple days in the future...

And that was even funny the first 20 or so times I saw it on the web yesterday...

That's the same thing I used but I took the lens off. Its kind of hard to breathe under the mask during the hot humid day.

I was outside the whole day and I had my Lincoln auto-darkening welding hood by my firepit. My hoods setting only goes to 13. I'd read 12 wasn't strong enough so they suggested 13/14. When outside I always wear Solar Shield sunglasses (at 67 my blue eyes still pass the drivers vision test without glasses) I kept the sunglasses on and from time to time I using my hood looked briefly at the eclipse. The next one is supposed to pass directly over so if God and my plan are on the same page, I may be here to watch it.
