Parking brake on Snapper riding mower

Broke the parking brake on my Snapper yesterday. Does anyone have any experience with these? When I push the brake down fully and pull up on the switch, it won't stay in the upward position. Makes it kinda hard to park on a small hill as it wants to start rolling.

It is a Snapper ST1842
