They may be pointless at times, but I also read for entertainment as well as to learn.

1000 posts puts you in the top 160 or so out of more than 37,000 members (over half of whom haven't ever posted). You can go to the menu above the message list and pull down the Community tab. Click on Members List and then click on the Posts heading to sort by number of posts. That will quickly tell you who has WAAAAAY too much time on our, er HIS hands.

Nothing wrong with sharing a milestone with a great bunch of car folks. Its a pretty neat hang out. I like to think its about the smiles per mile.

I noticed that 88 coupe is still in the top 50.

Man, I haven't broken into the top 50. I need to get moving.

Post count and join date are really never important unless someone is trying to win an argument by ad hominems. Generally that's right after correcting someone's spelling and grammar, but before you insult their mother. It doesn't work too well on a hobby forum, as the forum is not an end to itself, it's a means to an end, being the Oldsmobile hobby, and owning/restoring the cars gives you more street cred than a post count, plus, this place is generally above that. I've been here some 3 years, have had my Olds for 11, and I think I only recall one guy trying to dick-wave that he'd been here longer, so that made him right. I think I remember who it was, but there's no point in saying so.

So do I, loved his caustic remarks and his knowledge of first generation Oldsmobile V8's. Did not want to get on the wrong side of him though.... Tedd

My point was not total post count, but avg posts per day.

Hitting 20K posts in seven or so years instead of nearly ten is really booking (or REALLY wasting time...).

I'll say one thing about Norm. He was nearly always right. I had only a couple of disagreements with him, and only once out of all those posts did I catch him in a factual error.
