I'll take your winter anyday over ours.
Speaking of which...I guaranteed that i won't get any snow this year, I ordered a new snowblower to replace the one that I bought in 1985.

Mawn'in all

Yep, anutter pretty one. Spose to be like dis all week.

Mike, I had a paper route when I was a kid and hated 7 days a week. I thought I had a good route because I had a ton of apts in a little area. Unfortunately, What I didn't think about was de turn over. I'd take my liitle collection book out at night to get maybe a buck and a half and my customers would be GONE. De idea of owning sum'em dat's always opened jes doesn't appeal to me.

Speak'in of Awful houses, WTH is dat stuff de pour on the grill before de cook anything. Oil? Grease? I was watching a guy cook de utter day and thought, When do de really clean de grill [or better yet de hood]

Have a great day Olds friends

Morning all.

Jamesbo, I worked at a Village Inn, and oddly enough we cleaned the grills every night and did a total kitchen teardown on Sunday at about 1:30p.m. (cuz the kitchen was full staffed and we could knock out the whole job in about 40 minutes)

Allan, you funny. Thanks for callin me out on that one. You already have my e-mail addy. So I guess everyone can figure out I'm not Dr. Bones.

I woke up at about 2:30 this morning is an absolute panic. I hate it when that happens. Something was very wrong, but I didn't know what it was. I thought for a minute and it hit me. The bedroom window was open, but there were no frogs or crickets makin noise. Then I did hear somethin, but I couldn't place it.... wait.... Yea, I think I've heard that before...... Maybe..... Yea, Thats it. Its rain. Been a long time, but thats what it was, real light at first and progressively got heavier and by 5:00 and even still now, It is flat coming down. Only supposed to get to 60F today. and right now it's 59F.

Welp, Hope everyone has a great humpday!

Happy Wednesday everyone.

That's one place I've never worked is a restaurant. I've done work in restaurants, ie installing the kitchen equipment.

Another nice day here in the Greater Stockbridge Area. Speaking of Awful house I'm going there in a minute. I don't usually go there on Wednesdays but my buddy Johnboy will be there and I haven't seen him in a couple days and I'm worried about him. His wife(of 6 months) has taken up with Johnboy's best friend and he's not feeling too good about it. When really stressed, Jb will be real quiet and act kinda weird, then start in on some destructive behavior.

Today I plan to take the Corvette up to the paint shop in Marietta. I've been trying to do this for three years. Every time I start doing it, or call them to say I'm heading up that way, something happens, usually to the car, and I never make it. So today I'm not calling them until I'm on my way.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning All!

Another cool chilly morning here, heading towards 80 today. Gonna be a nice night for Chick Fil A Cruising!!!!

Steve is in long sleeves this morning, lol. Clay had his heater on out there yesterday..... it's a stuffy 76 in here and my fan has been on since I walked in! Yep.... it's time for me to start bitc*in about their heaters. I'm surprised Steve doesn't have his on. I have on a skort and short sleeve blouse, and I think it's stuffy as heck in here. Oh well.

They said on the weather the other night that our fall colors are gonna peak by the first of October instead of late October like usual. Everything is like a month ahead. Next week our temps are gonna be 15 degrees cooler than the normals for this time of year they said this morning. I was watching it to see what the weekend weather is gonna be. Chance of rain from Friday into Sat. morning.

Two shows on Saturday...... One in Lake Milton called Keels and Wheels. I guess people bring their boats and dock them, lol. Don't know if they're judged or not. I looked at pics from last year and it looks like a lot of cars were there. That's by my sister's house. Then there's one in Brimfield - closer for me. I think it's participant judging though.....

The Ravenna Balloon Affair Show is on Sunday. I'm going to that one. Got that cool hot air balloon shaped award there last year. I think they have the same type of award this year.

Jamesbo.... I think it's time to pull out my bean plants. They only have a few little tiny beans on them. My maters are still loaded with green ones, but I don't know if they will ripen or not, late as it's getting. Seems like they all ripened late - or is it just me?? I picked 4 big Beefsteaks and brought Steve in 2 of them. There's one more almost ripe one on the plant and a ton of green ones. The plant itself is looking dryed up and yucky now. The cherry plants still look nice and green.

I've been picking and eating a lot of grapes!! They are really good this year. I just squeeze them out of the peel and swallow them whole, lol. They have seeds, and the peels are kinda bitter. But the fruit is good!! Seems like the flavor is inside the peel and when you squish it into your mouth and suck on that peel a minute, the flavor is great!! We have a lot of little Moon Glo pears, but they are a hard kind of sour pear. The Bartletts didn't get real big this year.

Allan R..... Now that was funny, lol!

Clint.... glad to hear you're getting some rain. Keep it out there, lol.

Mike... Guess I must have grown up hearing my mom or someone say 'run the sweeper' cause I say it all the time, lol.

Scot... hows your daughter? Have you started Round 2 with the post office yet??

Johnny... Welcome to the forum!!

Well you all have a great day!

Happy Humpday!

What a difference 15 hours makes! Nice out here. Winds yesterday were topping out at almost 50 mph!! Today it's blue sky and sunshine; temp around 50° - high forecast for around 60 or so.

Jamesbo - ifn I members rite dey use water to clean de grill. I tried doin dat on de company cookout a few years ago an it werks likkity clean almost instant. Den ya jes pull de crud off de cook surface wit de scraper and ready for de next batch.

Clint - isn't that rain nice? Jeez I HATE waking up in a panic. How's your heart now?

Mike - Yes! Get the vette in for paint. Awful House can wait....

Sandy - Pulled the beans a week ago. Yup seems like stuff up here was either late or early. My maters are still going gangbusters. Picking around 15 little red ones every day. Lucky you with the grapes. Jamesbo is right. Ya pick green maters and wrap em in newspaper or put em in a box - keep em dark and they'll turn red. Like the flavor of vine ripened better tho.

Ted - nice to see ya! Even if you're just lurking in the background.

Dan - Y'all can send me your old snowblower!! I prolly will go out and buy one this year too. All kinds of 'pre winter' sales going on. I also want one of those gas powered blowers that does double duty as a leaf mulcher.

Well, today is the big day! The differential is coming out of the car today...Hope nothing goes wrong, goes worng, gsoes wnorng, gos ron..........

Look on Craigslist for an old one. I got an 89 Toro 825 a couple of years ago and restored it. I used this site for the parts this I needed it was pretty good.

Thanks Tony but there's really nothing wrong with my differential. It's coming out just so I can put in a new set of 3:23's and limited slip carrier. Once that's done it will get cleaned/painted and re-installed. Will also give me more room under the car to clean the under pans up a bit.

Oh, ok. Hard to tell which part of the post y'all were referring to since you quoted the whole thing. Thought you were talking about an 89 Toronado...which wouldn't work for me. Yes CL or Kijiji up here works. Seems like most peeps want fairly high $$ for old stuff though. Rather have a new one that I can wreck myself.

The old ones are work horses, that's why. I tossed new belts, carrier bearing and a traction spring on mine, and seafoamed it. It purrs like a kitten.

My buddy's a small engine repair guy, he said he'd rather have an old machine any day of the week.

If you're going new, you might want to try John Deer or a new Ariens. If you want me to, I could ask him what the better (new) machines are.

Well, it ain't gonna happen today, either. Went to start up the Corvette and it won't idle, it won't run smoothly, it dies with my foot off the gas. Two days ago it ran like a dream. Today it's a bad dream. I had to come in and take a break before I started looking for my baseball bat. I'm so mad I could just spit.

It has water in the gas symptoms. Everything else seems good. So the path I choose to take is to drain the tank completely and get the original Quad rebuilt and put on. Unless I get my MAW cloak back from the cleaners soon I'll also get tune up parts and all that. Wish there was a Corvette board as good as this one.

So! I feel relaxed now. I'm over the drama for today. Might fix me some lunch and then play with the dogs. Check you guys later.

Oh it's a beautiful day here! Deep blue sky, breezy, sunny and almost 80 degrees! I went out and laid in my lounge chair at lunch time. I was laying on my stomach, felt something crawling on my leg so I shook it, still felt it so I turned over, and it was a damned yellow jacket. Yep - he got me. First time I've been stung since I was a kid. All I had here at work was rubbing alcohol, so I put some of that on it. He didn't leave the stinger, and the redness is starting to leave some now, but it still friggin hurts!! Those suckers are soooo bad this time of year. They're like everywhere. Spoiled the last 10 minutes of my chair time, lol.

Gonna be a gorgeous night for Chick Fil A!! Teepo hasn't been started since Labor Day when we got rained on at the Riverfront. She's gonna be happy to get out of the garage tonight! It's getting dark here before 8:00 now though, so we'll probably leave there around 7:30.

Mike..... I dunno about your luck, lol! Hope you have a good afternoon.

Tony... nice to hear from ya again!

Jamesbo... thanks for the tip. I might try it. It's depressing to think about pullin out the mater plants.

Mike - if it has water in gas symptom, the fix is really easy. Strain all the water out of the gas and put it back in the distributor where it belongs..

Sorry to hear. That vette sounds more like a curse.

Jeez, I'm starting to feel like Mike.
The diff did NOT come out of the car today. Close but no seegar. Really close though. Lower rear control arms, rear brake hose and upper control arms and she should slide outta there like snot on a doorknob.

Good Evening Everyone.

The last couple of days have been sunny but cool. It didn't even make it up to 20C (68F). Today was a little warmer and it is supposed to continue or get a bit warmer the next couple of days.

As usual I've been busy the last little while.

Mike, I've got some pics I will try posting soon of an Amphicar I saw at a show 2 weeks ago.

I spent Sunday at the local paved oval track. It was their end of season event. They had 6 classes racing including a visiting class of Vintage Modified. I've never seen them before. They were fun to watch. There were also 3 monster trucks doing demonstrations, 1 of which just showed up And finally, they ended the 8 hour day with a 100 lap enduro race (a race with more or less no rules). I'll post a few pics of a few of the interesting cars in the enduro race.

Looks like I will be bowling again this season. I joined a Monday night league, but I'm on a team with most of my team from last year, so let's see how it goes.

Sandy, you haven't driven Teepo since Labour Day?

Don't give up on the Vette Mike.

Welcome to the thread Johnny.

Clint, I know how strange it is to finally get rain when you haven't had any for quite a while.

Keep at it Allan.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

Well I finally got the temperature gauge installed in the coupe yesterday after a bout with the old sending unit. The coupe has aluminum heads and I don't think my Dad used anti-seize on the brass threads

Today I have to find a place that will swap used tires around on 8 rims. This ought to be fun

Yall have a grand day out there

Morning All!

Sunny and not so cool this morning. Temps in the high 60's now, heading towards the 80's. Then rain chances tomorrow and the cool front comes in. Gonna lose about 15 degrees.... burr.... It should be another nice night for Bellacino's tonight!

Went to Chick Fil A last night - had 40 cars there! I think that's a record for us, lol. Of course I didn't take my camera, so I took some pics with my phone and am trying to transfer them over to my laptop now. They take awhile. It was nice to see some cars there I hadn't seen before. It was a beautiful night. I won a free Chick Fil A meal coupon, lol. I love their food so I will be using it!! Would have rather had the 50/50. It was only $75 for half, but I'd have taken it. I filled Teepo up on the way home and there went $47.00. She had a little over a quarter tank. Figured I better get gas before it shoots up to $3.99 a gal. like some places are getting to.

Jamesbo.... no, I didn't use the tobacco. It seemed to be ok. I put soda on it when I got home. Today it is itching like crazy!!! I brought Hydrocortisone cream in with me that I keep rubbing around it, lol. It's still red by the sting entry. But it's not swelled or hurting. It just itches.

Well I reckon I should be doing something, so I'll talk to ya later. Have a great day all!

Thursday mawnin's are great!
Beautimus day here. Going for a high of 75 or so. Just got back from breakfast with the ol pharts. One of em is going to come over Monday and help me take the diff to Alberta Driveline. Already booked the work in and they were very accommodating. Will only take them a couple hours so I might even have it back on Monday evening.

Clint - LOL Watch my fingers and toes??? Hey, they're old enough to look after themselves by now. If they get caught where they shouldn't be they can't blame me for not looking after them...Seriously? Yes I will. I wear my steel toes, coveralls, safety glasses, coveralls, work gloves etc when working on the car. Even have hearing protection. Prolly like you, I don't consider personal safety to be just words to talk about.

Jamesbo - One way or t'other that car WILL have the back end and gas tank back in before winter. De guys were jess tokkin bout de Farmer's almanac and cording to it, we should have fall wedder right up to Dec. But yewen I both no sometimes dem farmers stretch de truth somewhut.

Scot - sounds like you're having fun working on the coupe. Anti seize was a foreign word apparently at GM when they built the Cutlass too.

Yeah man it's a blast werking on that old jalopy. A bit lonely though because it's pretty warm in the shop although I've got a big fan on me at all times no one wants to keep me company while I'm wrenching on it. I know, I know wah wah wah

Anywho it's coming together just fine. I got the tires did today and changed the earl and filter. Been trying to decide which air cleaner to use, since I have several. I've been runnin a batwing one from a 50's Olds, but I'm not convinced it's getting enough air

I guess I shouldn't over think it though because that's when the MAW's kick in

Evening everyone.

It's been a quiet afternoon. I slept until 12:30, dilly dallied around then went to Walmart, then hung out with the dogs until it was time to get ready for work. Only have to do two this week.

Clint/Jamesbo I have to get the car running right before I take it to the paint shop. I can only imagine what they'd charge me if they had to hike it around in its current state. This place was recommended to me by other Corvette folk, however when I got there found they work on mostly really expensive stuff, ie Ferraris, Rolls/Bentley, Maserati, that sort of stuff. And here I was with a lowly Chevrolet. If I can talk my buddy into buying it before it gets up there I won't mess with any of it at all. He can come here and get it to run and do whatever he wants with it.

So off to work I go. Everyone have a good evening and I hope you're planning some fun for the weekend.

Good Evening Everyone.

Today was a tough day. I found out this morning that a co-worker had passed away. He was around my age. It was a shock.

Scot, glad to hear you are enjoying the coupe, even if just working on it.

Sandy, thanks for posting the pics.

Clint, I have not bowled yet this season. The season started last week, but I couldn't stay to bowl. I'm looking forward to getting back to it next Monday.

Evening y'all
Well what can I say that George Orwell hasn't already said about plans going gafooey?

Scot - I know the feeling only up here it's just not hot. You'll come up with the right air filter arrangement. Don't feel so bad, I also had a wah wah wah day.

Mike - I hope your buddy falls in love with the vette and takes it off your hands. Then you can go shopping for a Maseratti or Zamboni the service shop would be less offended by.

Paul - That's always a shock when it happens. Really drives home how frail life is and what we take for granted each day. Hope you will be ok, my condolences on his passing.

Everyone sleep tight, tomorrow's coming quick!

Good Friday Mawnin All

Temps are still mild around here (mid 80's), but they are calling for low 90's by Sunday

Well the cast of Spartacus will return this weekend But this time it's going to be in my behalf And the good thing about having my bro-in-law in my rental is that they can descend upon his humble abode as well

Sorry to hear about your co-worker Paul What happened?
