The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Thanks Dan, and thanks again for validating what I thought about the '66 427 Vettes being one of the quickest in the era. I've never driven my buddies car, but have ridden in it a few times, and it will literally throw you back in the seat with every gear change. It's quite the machine!
Norm - Sorry about the phone debacle, that really sucks! I'm assuming when you say you filed a claim that you had some type of protection plan?
Sounds like a very long, chaotic day, I hope you have a relaxing evening!

Good evening guys,
Well, after being out in the heat all day yesterday, I was not excited at all about getting out to mow this morning. We were headed towards a high of 97° with a heat index of 110°, but I got started around 0930 as soon as most of the dew was off. All I'll say is I got thru it, and I was soaked and pooped when I got done. Came in, cooled off, and rehydrated. Took a shower, then more hydration, and hit the weights for my lifting workout. Now super pooped! I've had all the fun I can stand for one day!
Good news, one more day of high 90's, then several days of low 80's, at least thru Sunday. Man that's going to be nice! Hope everyone has a great evening!

Yeah, I pay a certain amount ($5.00?) monthly for a protection plan - no matter what happens no deductible I get a new phone (or refurbished maybe - I don't know). But, I don't pay for a new phone.
That sounds like a pretty good deal, especially as expensive as some of the better models have gotten these days. I think I'll seriously consider that for the next one I get. I've been pretty easy on the phones I've had, but I did lose one out of my pocket once on the motorcycle. I found it, but it was crushed before I could get back to it.
Received e-mail confirmation from FEDEX - yeah baby. PITA to setup the phone again, though. Chris - You failed to comment on the last chocolate malted glass - probably best not to say anything - subtlety is best left unspoken.
Glad your new phone is already on the way! 👍 Yep, very familiar with the DTRA and it's mission.
I need a new phone, but changing is best done in a controlled fashion. I'd like a big block, hardtop 67 427. It's interesting to note about the Hurst/Olds, they were 455s. Everyone is like, oh the 400+ ban didn't apply to Corvettes, and, while that is true, the 454 was not put out until 1970. Most of the 427s had less power, some had more.
After I posted about the yard on Friday, I ubered to Enterprise for a rental car. It's a running gag for them for me to call in and request Chargers. This time, they gave me a Hemi 350 model. This thing had enough power. I don't think I ever booted it fully on the road. I bounced off 105 once passing some people.
Drove to Chattanooga on Friday, other than about getting kamikazeed by some shitbox Imperial from the 80s on the mountain, it was good. Crashed in a hotel, and made it to a man and wife's house Sat AM in the boons for a 2 day clinic of how to put on better Known Distance (full range) Appleseed clinics. The car did not like the gravel driveway. After two days of intense training and bonding with fellow instructors, I went home. Got home late last night and returned the car this morning. Only got 80% of the fuel mileage of the V6 model, has a louder, somewhat obnoxious exhaust, and tends to loaf at high speed almost to lugging with the very high geared 8th gear, but I liked the thing. Pulled like a freight train.
Had time to do the Mike Test on Friday:
Went to work today, came home, and mowed the side yard finally. Really lugged the engine on one pass, I actually had to stop and do it in lunges on the first pass. The rest I could fudge by not cutting full width by overlapping. Got it done. Tomorrow I hope to address my bent shaft push mower. I am going to sledgehammer the high side of the wobbled shaft and see if that makes it more balanced. If not, the rusted out, partial lost compression, 20 year old $175 MTD push mower might be done. I remember buying that thing about now in my first fall of grad school. I did move it in the back of my Monte Carlo once, but I can't remember why.

John - Sounds like you had a pretty good trip to Tennessee for the Applebee's training. Thanks for the review of the V8 Challenger. Sounds like you have really gotten your money's worth out of the old MTD even if she's down for the count.
Good morning guys,
My Weed Killer concentrate got here yesterday and I just got done treating the front and side yards. Can't do the back yard because the dogs chew/eat the grass.
Final day of intense heat, around 97°, tomorrow we're looking at a high of 78°, I'll believe it when I see it. Then a stretch of high 70's/low 80's at least thru Sunday. That never happens in August!
Gabe has another hockey Skills Day tomorrow evening that I'll probably go to.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone.
Day two of lead not here. We are short a bunch of tires and we're almost done with what we have, so we took an hour lunch(as opposed to the usual 30 minutes). We were told at 1045 so of course lunch started immediately, and still going at 1230. Hm, seems about right.
Norm you will have to chastise the driver severely. I guess getting the texts of where the driver is doesn't apply here.
So one or both of the valves that turn the water on and off in the shower have gone bad. I replaced them 3 years ago. I would have thought they'd last a little longer. It drips once every 4 seconds so it's out of limits. I put a bucket under the spout and when I flush the toilet I pour that water into the tank. So I'm not wasting any water how clever.
Taking Mom to the doctor this afternoon, so I won't get anything done after work. Though I'm leaving around 1 so I'm not rushed. Nice.
Okay have a good afternoon everyone.

But honestly, FEDEX is generally always spot-on w/ their deliveries. I know the trucks dispatched to where I reside (Beaufort, NC) come from Wilmington, NC - two hours South of me. Anything can happen.
Damn if my one neighbor (old F'ing fart) didn't call me at 3:30 in the afternoon couple weeks ago asking why aren't the garbage trucks here? What time do they stop working? Nothing more than vociferous vacillation of the pie hole. He uses a walker. I told him to **** off. The following week he calls me at 8:00pm while it's raining asking if I'd take out his recycle bin to the street. I told him it might do him some good to take a shower.

John - Sorta/Kinda funny. I can see how you might have thought it. The term "toke" is an interesting term, IMO. Supposed to resemble/mean going to a "point" beyond your normal everyday habitual/ritual conscious existence in this world and instead venturing to another "point" beyond your own (normal) zone (so to speak). Primarily influenced by what you term the "Devil's Cabbage". One toke bud (cabbage) versus two toke bud, etc. Quality of the herb and how far beyond your normal railway station you want to travel.
Norm - Of all the regulars on this thread, I'm pretty sure you're the one who would be the least intimidated by the task of starting/setting-up a new phone. My money's on you to Git'r Done!
