New kitchen table and chairs (2 pics) my wife just finished refinishing today that better suit the style she's aiming for in the interior remodeling. The 3rd pic is the set (which she also did) which was replaced, and will now be sold.

Thanks Norm! She did an excellent job on the new foam cushioning and reupholstery of the chairs, they look professional and are much more comfortable than the old set.

Did you notice the change in the color of the walls from pale yellow to off white?

We are still expecting (for us) a big winter storm, but we started this morning off with 60-70 mph winds, severe thunderstorms and tornado warning with my house in the red cone.

On the way in to work the interstate makes a sharp left turn and dips under two overpasses, it is kinda a blind turn on a good day, well there was a bunch of metal in the road and cars with blown tires everywhere... then later on people just driving 10 mph or stopping on the interstate. I get it it is raining, it is heavy rain, but you cant stop on the interstate....

Not really. I could vaguely make out a change in color tone.

Matt - That frontal boundary looked very tight & ominous. Hopefully your residence didn't experience any serious damage. People can stop wherever they want - it's all about me, me, me. That frontal boundary is expected to pass through our area late this afternoon.

Matt - Glad you made it into work safely, sounds like a white knuckler! Be safe on the way home, all that water is sure to freeze when the Arctic air hits later this afternoon.

Thanks guys,

I think the house survived pretty well, A lot of storms break up when they hit the Mississippi river. Local meteorologists swear there is no mechanism to cause this, but if you live here and watch it happens alot.
Of course, the (somewhat tongue in cheek) conspiracy theory is that the crystal skull in the top of the pyramid protects the city.

I haven't driven my little civic in a couple months until this morning, and I forgot how much I like it (its like a loyal shelter dog). It does tend to hyrdoplane a little in weather like this where there is ponding on the roads, but I figure a lot of stuff does.

Well I'm batting 1000. My beat up truck makes mountain patrol stop by every time I go north to make sure I'm not robbing my house 🙃

Hi everyone.

Splendid day. There were about half our wheels ready to be signed when we started, and we finished about a quarter to 11. Left a quarter after, and I went to Awful house. Some people were there I like to sit with and stayed there two and a half hours. It's been raining all afternoon so nothing to get home to. Just Tiger. Still was home before regular time.

So today is the birthday of my first car. I bought it in 1984 and still have it. It isn't a viable automobile anymore but I can't see to get rid of it.

Jamesbo got a question for you. If I wanted to build a house what is the first thing I would do? Do I call a contractor, or an architect, or someone else? Same for building an addition to my existing house?

Supposed to be nice tomorrow, if not a little chilly. If the sun is out it won't be so bad.

Wifey had left cataract surgery yesterday- went well. already she can see better. We had to be at Mount Pleasant hospital @7 am- she got out at about 1030- back to Harrison,- Then go back to Dr office in MP @ 215 for check.- then back to Harrison. All went well. Snow started on way back about 3 PM. Got slippery fast, but made it back safe and sound. Looks like maybe a foot this time- that on top of the 8" from a couple days ago, looks good for a snowmobile ride. Planning to go with some buddies at noon. Our little guy- Buddy- doesn't like it. Snow up to his wanger makes it hard to go pee....brrrr!

Mike - While I agree w/ Jim regarding selection of a land parcel to build a home, personally I wouldn't proceed to the land parcel stage w/o first having qualified for a loan/mortgage which fits your budget. Loan qualification will help define land parcel purchase & cost to build a home. I think you'll gain a better understanding of the amount you can afford for both the land parcel and the home you intend to build.

if you are liking that I have to recommend “the pacific” as a follow up

if it matters the mini series apparently is very true to the memoir written by Eugene Sledge

My best friend has read the book but not seen the show, I am the opposite and we can sit and talk about like we are talking about the same thing.

We like a lot of sci fi and wwii stuff. During Covid my wife and I watched MASH from beginning to end. We had seen parts and bits and pieces of individual episodes as kids but never seriously watched it.

We did an episode a day. Sometimes two or three. It was really good and very cool to never miss an episode and remember what happened in the last episode etc

We have finished all the Star Trek shows except the 70s animated continuation of the original show

I’ve got all of the available dr who from the 60’s until maybe 2010 on a hard drive but we keep putting it off

its amazing we get anything else done when I think about it

Chris, that dining set looks nice. Maybe I should've had your wife do one for me instead of having the Amish build me one. A bit of snow here, looks to be about 8-10", but I can't tell for sure as the snow was blowing around last night and stuck to my gauge, hiding the inch and foot marks. The wind is picking up, and we are supposed to transition over to lake effect. Greg, I was concerned about your trip when you mentioned it the other night, good to see that the weather didn't mess you up too much, and that your wifes surgery went well. Last nights dinner looked good Jim.

Good morning guys (barely for me),

Just got back from grandson Gabe's hockey game, which they won 2 -1 on a goal with only 15-seconds left. Gabe had tied the game when he scored with 5-minutes left, and had the assist on the winning goal. This game was part his team's home tournament that started yesterday evening and runs thru Monday. Gabe's team won in a blowout last night 9-1, and Gabe scored 4 of those goals, wish I had been at that one. I'm having a ball watching him play.

Weatherman is calling for a low of -5°F overnight tonight and a high of 6°F tomorrow. I just thought I was cold when I left for the game this morning and it was 13°. Absolutely hate this kind of cold weather!

Looking forward to the Chiefs/Dolphins game tonight. They're saying it will probably be the coldest game ever in Kansas City, around zero at game time tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day. If you're in the Midwest try and stay warm!

Hi everyone.

Cold and breezy out. But the sun is out so that helps. My big boy pants are in the laundry so I'll probably stay inside this afternoon.

Greg glad the surgery went okay. I hope she is able to see better. That reminds me of the woman who sued her doctor. She said, right after my husband got home he doesn't want to touch me or come near me and it's all your fault. The doctor said, all I did was fix his vision.

Jamesbo I want to build on property I already own. I guess that would have been helpful information. Everyone always assumed I'd build a house on this property(the land with my hangar/shop on it) but I never really wanted to. Now I think I might want to. After I build I'm gonna get a bunch of that camouflage netting like they have on MASH and put over the property, so that way the county can't fly their drones over and see what I improve.

Matt I bought the whole series of MASH and watched it all from start to finish. Also saw the MASH movie. I wasn't a fan when it was on but now I watch it every night on one of those retro TV stations.

Okay want to make this weekend count. I've got an extra day off and I want to go back to work really feeling like I've accomplished something.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I watched every M.A.S.H. episode every week when the T.V. series was released until final episode. How could I not after watching the 1970 movie. The Longest Yard was a fun sorta follow-up during that era, as well.

There was a guy (group of guys) who covered literally ~10 acres of land West of Dade City, FL w/ camouflage netting. They eventually were caught growing Cannabis, Helicopters obtained a SIGNIFiICANT heat signature which took them down. I was living in Dade City when this happened. One day returning home from work it looked like a war zone near that field. Oops.

Dan - Thanks Dan, I'll pass on the compliment. Don't have a clue what you paid for the Amish to build you one, but I know they make great quality stuff, but it ain't cheap. The one we're swapping out she's gonna ask $350, which includes the 4 chairs, with cushions. The table and all the chairs are oak, very solid and sturdy. You can't buy anything for even close to that anymore.

Those chairs look really comfortable. I wish I had a couple oak chairs. These IKEA pieces of crap fall apart after only a few days. It's hard to keep them screwed or glued together. Awful house has these aluminum chairs that I would love to have a couple. Maybe I can smuggle a couple out at a time.

I watched the MASH movie and didn't like it at all. But there were a few things I never understood about the show that were answered when I saw the movie. Like where they got the name Hot Lips.

Mike - Yep, you're right, the new chairs with the upholstered/padded backs are very comfy. The old ones weren't bad, but nothing like the new ones.
