The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Good morning everyone.
Happy Birthday Jamesbo. I hope your day is a success. The Super Model needs to throw you a big bash.
Rain this morning. Gonna be heavy here in a little while. I won't know it, we are secluded from any phenomena here in the bunker.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Jim/Mike - You should be just about right in the middle of this weather beast. About 7PM - 11PM tonight we should see the worst of it. Steady 35mph - 40mph winds gusting to 70mph w/ numerous thunderstorms and tornadoes expected.

Heck, I have basically one vehicle (2003 F250) & one 2010 Indian motorcycle. The F250 I've maintained a $500 deductible (comp/collision) for 21 years. The Indian I've maintained a $1K deductible for 14 years. I just reviewed both policies, I'll continue same coverage on both.
We're supposed to get snow again tonight too. It's supposed to change over from rain to snow right around 5pm, just about the time my wife and I wanted to leave to go have dinner with members of the Old's Club, with our regular monthly meeting to follow. It's almost a 50-minute drive for us, and with conditions supposed to worsen through the evening I'm gonna bag it. It's not worth the risk, especially having to try and get up there during rush hour, which is a nightmare even when the weather is not bad.
I saw this named storm bullshit forming years ago. F’ing insurance companies instigating this bullshit. Hate them with a vengeance. Convincing NWS of a contrived need. Hate it hate it hate it.
I wonder if Ray is in Florida? This system is really big and the frontal boundary is really long. Good luck, Ray.
Put the truck to bed in the man-cave, porch furniture & chairs turned down on their sides, winds are picking up significantly - I guess ~30mph steady w/ gusts ~40mph - 45mph. This swash buckler should arrive ~7pm - 8pm.

You name HURRICANES. That's it.
They are predicting 1-9” of snow in Memphis next Monday. Lows single digits with highs of maybe 15 -20
At least no ice storms this time
1/2” of snow will shut this city down
we have been having a lot of reliability issues with our grid as well. We have a 4 service utility and it is city owned. While we have good rates they are set by the city council who refuse to raise them when asked for by the utility. So there’s a lot of deferred maintenance.

Ya, they're calling for some really frigid temps here in StL this coming Sunday - Tuesday. Highs in the single digits, and overnight lows as low as -5°. Brrrrrr, too damn cold!
Looks delicious Norm, much more elegant than my dinner. My wife's on a low calorie salad diet trying to undo the damage from the holidays. Although she offered to cook for me, I said don't worry about it, I'll just make some sandwiches. Gourmet PB & J. What that means is thick Texas Toast, toasted, with a heavy dose of PB, with Raspberry Jam.
I am sure there have been many a day you had to be out in the mix on similar weather days with work. Makes it that much sweeter to lay low under the radar I bet.
Last night I put together 5 pages, and tonight 9 pages, of the H/OCA newsletter. 5 pages left and I can send this one off to the proofers. Have a cute picture of a member's little girl next to another member's '69 H/O on the inside main cover, so I went with 69 H/O colors for the main cover, cream background, gold font, black font outline. Font outline is a bitch since Acrobat won't do it, you have to say what you want in Word, do your effects, then save as a pdf and copy/paste the outlined font in, and it's unchangeable as Acrobat considers it a picture. I typically save it for titles only. Usually don't do it on the main cover, but I needed to pop the gold out from the cream a bit.
