The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
No $hit, and sadly it is not going to get any better. Being on a fixed income now these enormous rate hikes are very painful to absorb!
Jim - Me likes. Scaffolding has been put back in storage. I am definitely Hygee Hygge w/ the scaffolding.

Thanks Norm, Wifey sz $30,000 is the #. So I emailed him, said price is $32,000, we'll see if it goes anywhere. Jim I like your Vista but I am in the mode of downsizing, making things simpler or whatever... I must say we probably had the most fun of any car in that Vista with the grandkids and dog in it. Wife and I were thinking about cars we've had and sold and regrets....'73 Omega with 69 455 Toro engine, '68 Road Runner 383 4 spd, 65 Coronet 4 door slant six---- regret selling those. 65 Coronet 2 door with 496 Wedge, '93 Camaro Z28 w/ 6spd, 1970 Vista Cruiser----- I don't regret selling those but enjoyed my time with them. Life moves on UGH...
Greg - My logic w/ sale of the '71 CS convertible was this. I was going to list it for $31K. Then, wait for the tire-kickers, no-shows & flippers to beat me to death. When Wet Panties approached wanting to purchase, I told her not one penny less than $27.5K. Never look a gift horse in the mouth I said to myself. I have no regrets selling either my 67 4-4-2 (1972) or my 72 4-4-2 (1981) but it would sure be nice to own both of them today.
Wow, that sounds like a delicious meal, can't wait to see the pics! You guys are gonna eat like Kings.
Hi guys,
Not a whole helluva lot been going on. Went with the wife to pick up a large dresser for her to refinish yesterday. Spent parts of almost every morning this week cleaning/detailing my car after getting caught in the rain on the way home last Sunday. It's ready to go for a Show tomorrow. There is a large show at the VFW in DeSoto to benefit VA spinal cord injury victims. I've been to it the past 2 years and it draws 200 to 250 really nice cars and trucks. Supposed to be close to 90° tomorrow, but essentially no chance of rain. Tomorrow will be the 28th event I've had the car out to this summer.
I'm on pup duty tonight. Wife's spending the night over at her daughter's house tonight and they're going to a local Rodeo that comes in every season. Not much for me to do, keep food and water in their bowls and let them out to do their business. They generally just mope around and sleep when she's gone, you can tell they miss her, just like me.
Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

I think ya did well w/sale Norm, I woulda done the same. I emailed the guy- no response, so prolly nuthins gonna happen- that's ok. Chris, Buddy has a fit when either of his "peeps" are away- wifey or me. He just stares out the window waiting for his peep to come back....Absolutely beautiful around here last couple days. Peak colors are susposta be tomorrow in middle of Mitt. Maybe we will take a colors ride in Olds- top up. Soon I will start putting away stuff- no hurry on that. Last couple days we have taken boat rides with neighbors- so pleasant- something about the warm autumn sun- warm but not hot- Jeans and flannel shirt weather.
Greg - I always enjoyed autumn weather. The fresh crisp air & smells of harvest season I guess. Our family would head out on weekends to pick apples at several of the orchards & while driving we'd stop at several roadside locations to pick black walnuts off the ground from trees where we knew of their locations. Sometimes we'd often find wild asparagus on the roadsides and stop to pick asparagus. We'd pick pumpkins & cut corn stalks from our garden tying the stalks together for display. Making scarecrows was fun, also. I can tell autumn is getting near primarily based on plants blooming out. It has cooled down considerably from this summers torrid heat which is a relief.
I’m constantly amazed with the spoken language around here. Everyone speaks in sentences containing double negatives, incorrect noun verb agreement & incorrect conjugation. Not sure I recall hearing this one before, but a true classic. I just heard this roll off a woman’s tongue:
”There weren’t nobody around”
”There weren’t nobody around”
Hi guys - Hope everyone's having a nice weekend. Went to the car show at the VFW yesterday. It was hot (92°) for the last day of September and I think everyone wanted to get their cars out as the season will be winding down in October. The promoter said there were 258 total vehicles entered. There were only 2 car classes, 1900-1980, and 1981-present. Top 25 for the 1900-1980 class. I managed to crack the Top 25 and got a really nice plaque.
I had DVR'ed the Michigan game yesterday and enjoyed watching them last night totally destroy Nebraska yesterday. More football viewing on tap for today.
Hope everyone has a great rest of your weekend!

Norm, wasn't THX1138 on a license plate on one of the cars in American Graffiti? Nice day here at 78°, well above normal, supposed to cool down by the end of the week. I had cornstalks w/corn for a fall display once... and the squirrels made a mess of it. I held off buying mums for the yard until the tree guy is done with his work, hopefully that will be this week. I won't get apples and a pumpkin until the 21st when I head down to Allegan County. Chris, the last three games of the regular season will be telling for Michigan, it won't be a cake walk. I think that Penn State has a very good shot at winning the big ten. Hopefully we can prevent that.
Dan - I agree the last 3-weeks for Michigan will be tough. Penn State has to play OSU in Columbus on the 21st of Columbus, so one of those 2 will at least have one loss going into their game with UofM. Michigan has to go to PSU, but has OSU at home. It will be an exciting final three weeks. I think Michigan is looking stronger each week. I think the key factor is if they can avoid any key injuries.
So much easier to respond to posts on my desktop PC than my iPhone.
Dan - The license plate in American Graffiti was THX 138, but it was displayed on the license plate as a reference to Lucas' THX1138. There have been numerous THX1138 references in numerous movies.
Chris - If you're going to watch the movie, which I recommend, keep in mind THX1138 was originally written by Lucas as his Masters thesis (I think) while attending USC film school in 1967. If it wasn't his Masters thesis it was turned in as completion of his academic film requirements. Originally titled Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB, it will resemble a very dated film for you to watch based upon today's standards. I think I've watched every George Lucas film - maybe, not 100% certain. I would rank Lucas as No.1 in terms of career as producer, director & screen/film writer. If you liked Blade Runner, you'll note many stylistic scenes and acting similar to THX1138. As I said, place yourself in the time period of 1969-1971 to appreciate the film. I think you'll like it. The ending is "brilliant".

George Lucas (Lucas Film, LTD) was responsible for nearly every single move theater upgrading its sound system. His advancements in collaboration w/ Ray Dolby advanced theater sound to the next level - and, most likely influenced the development of the IMAX theater sound system. Still one of the greatest motion picture soundtracks.

Examples:
I seen it!
I done seen it! (I guess this is more emphatic.)
It don't matter none. (two for the price of one.)
He said it on Facebook!
I will extemporize some pretty vicious Southern slang at times, but it's funny phrasing, not incorrect usage. "Is this all y'all's fault or am I gonna have to call the law?" for example.
I did get temp banned from the team members' facebook page at my work because I tried to tell them besmirching someone's character in a written format is libel, not slander, because
it is written and you didn't "say" anything unless you had to sound out the words typing it. (That last part might have been the reason.) See above example about Facebook.
