Hi all. I am currently working on an 85 Riviera and I have a plastic fenderwell that is cracked. (Would be the same as the 79-85 Toronado) It is not a major crack and just want to prevent it from getting worse. Has anyone fixed this type of problem before and what did you use? Thanks in advance.

If astetics is not an issue you can drill some holes on either side of the crack and "sew" it together with some zip ties. If it has to look good to use black zip ties lol


This works good for dirt bikes and sleds to keep plastics from ripping more, but if it needs to be pretty this probably isn't the best methed

You can also repair it with some thin sheet metal and rivets or small screws. Just form a thin piece of sheet metal over it using it as a patch.

Get a 3/8" long staple from a staple gun and hold it with a pair of pliers at the head. Heat it with a torch until it is nice and hot, then push it into the plastic (one tip on either side of the break) and let the tips melt into the plastic. After it is through, push it quickly through with the pliers until the head is at the plastic surface. After it has cooled, either bend the two prongs over, or, if they are secure enough in the plastic, just cut them off.
Dab on some black paint and you're done.

Hi ; I`m new to the site but I had a plastic welding business for 5 yrs. and you can weld it but requires a hot air gun and the correct type of plastic I think the plastic is HDPE . The best way to match is to trim a strip from the fender from a place that won`t be missed , clean the area then used heat ,try not to burn it . You`ll have to play with the heat and use some pressure , if you trim your starter end on a 45 or more it will stick faster at first . When it cools you can use a die grinder an smooth it off.
