72 cutlass top removal
I am trying to remove the rear portion of my convertible top, without damaging it, to do some body work. Anyone know how? from the inside I see a metal bar that seems to hold the lip of the top but have no idea if it comes out or if that is what I need to do. Help... Thanks,Dave

That metal bracket you see at the lip of the convertible top has to be unbolted. You can access most of them by laying on your back in the trunk area, no fun but not that difficult. I am not sure if your plans is to remove the entire top or not but if so you would also need to remove the rear seat and unbolt the brackets that hold the hydralic cylinders. I also replied to on my thread with a couple of You Tube videos. look at the the other video I posted

Thank you for the quick response Gary. I will crawl in the trunk in the morning. At this point I am only removing the back of the top to do some body work between the top trim and the trunk. A top replacement comes later.
