Compatible hoods for 69 Cutlass
I found a nice hood from a 1971 or 72 (the seller doesn't know which year exactly), and I'm wondering, will it fit my 69 Cutlass without modification?
Furthermore, is there a "compatibility" chart for Cutlass parts somewhere?
Thank you in advance. :-)
EDIT: Better yet, would the 69 Cutlass "S" or 442 hood fit this properly? Ultimately, I'd rather have an "S" or 442 hood.

The 69 Hood has a tooth [that's the part you hit your head on often] and I think the latches are different. Ya can make a 70 fit though. I would think you should be able to find a 69 hood around.

Well, I guess that goes on to the last part of my post; will the 69 "S" and 442 hoods fit? I found a few "S" hoods locally, but I don't want to spend a few hundred bucks if it won't fit 100%.

?????
Kels there should be No difference between a cutlass and a cutlass s hood? I have a 69 cutlass S convertible, the hood is the same as the "442" just the way the hood was painted I.E. Striping etc is different, there were no scoops in 1969 except for the Hurst Olds add on ones if that is what you mean by 442 hood. a 70 hood would fit you would need to change the "tooth" to a 69 "tooth" as this was shorter then the 70, but agin it would not be correct if that was what your after. hope this helps
Good luck with your resto and remember
Everything is Fine when your working on a 69!!!!!!!

Eddie, thank you for the insight. Anymore it seems everyone with a 442 has the hood scoops, which if those are an aftermarket addon, I think I'll just go with my original idea of the "double-bump" solid hood, with the race stripes.
I'll be sure to post pictures and video as the project unfolds! :-)

heres some pics
here is a pic of the stock cutlass/cutlass S/442 hood this isn't my car BTW ( dam it LOL)
and here is a 69 with a 1970 442 hood it is not correct but if you like the look, this hood if you found it would be worth some big bucks to a 70's 442 guy, so if it is a good price grab and sell it LOL

Actually there are two different hoods used on the 1969 cars. There are the "double hump" hoods used on two door Cutlii and 442s, as shown above on the red car, and the flat hood used on Supremes, four doors, wagons, and F-85s. The two interchange, but they are not the same. As noted, the 1970 hoods can be made to fit. 71-72 have a different leading edge and do not fit.

I never knew that

Or a bolt on hood that goes on like a stock hood which mounts on hinges and may or may not need special lightweight springs. It would be like a factory w30 hood wherea pinned onwould be like the 68 road runner hemi hood withthe scoop. Itjustlifts off and uses no hinges.
