I am starting the process of restoring the Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner for my '84 Hurst/Olds and would like to know the best way to remove the (permanent) inner screen as part of disassembling the base of the air cleaner in preparation for repaint. It appears that it may be removed by (gentle) prying with plastic trim removal tools but I am uncertain as I have not disassembled one previously and do not want to damage the part while trying to remove it as the part does not seem to be available as a replacement.
