72 W30 Not Mine

Not mine. I looked at it tonight but I told the owner I'd post it as I'm not interested in a complete rebody. Yes, it's got the X in the VIN.

It's much worse than it looks. For anyone really interested in a project PM me and I'll pass on the seller's info.

It's more than a big project. Missing cowl tag, motor, tranny, floors rusty, frame shot, hood junk, rust everywhere, etc.

Sounds like a parts car at this point. The VIN tag is the only thing left W-30.

I assume this car is in upstate NY? Is there a price or is the seller taking the Barrett Jackson drugs?

Boy, it's hard to imagine a car that screams "run away" more than this one - especially since Barr-Jackitis is in epidemic mode recently.

Depends on the price. It's worth $1000 for a beat up W-25 hood and an X-code VIN tag. At BJ-prices, it would be "run awaaaaaaay".

It is. He was talking Barrett Jackson until I pointed out the holes in the floors and frame. I told him $500-$1000 but that JMO. I didn't make an offer because it's not a project I want to take on.

Three years later and this is the first time I've seen it listed with a price. Funny he says he hasn't inspected the frame. I told him I put my hand right through it and he was standing next to me

Probably a few more raccoons living it it now

Kinda curious why the cowl tag is missing. It takes some effort to remove one. Something amiss?

When I looked at it three years ago the seller seemed genuinely surprised the cowl tag was missing. The car is in an old barn that's missing windows and there's crap (literally) everywhere. I would imagine someone got in there and stole it. There's really nothing else of value on the car that can be easily removed. It was probably just a kid taking a souvenir. He did some hunting since I looked at it because he said he found the broadcast card in the seat so a new cowl tag could be made for it.

The hood is junk. The metal frame is rusted and the fiberglass is cracked and broken. He said the trunk is locked but you can stick your head in there from under the car. The gas tank was either falling out of it or was missing and the hole in the trunk was almost big enough to crawl in.

The seller is a nice guy. He's a parts or service manager at a Dodge dealer. He owned another 72 W30 years ago and he took the engine from this car and put it in the other. Then he sold the other. That's why he knows where the engine is for this car. He sold his other W30 at least ten years ago and he told me he got a lot for it so I think that's why he sees more value in this car than anyone else does. Every once in a while he sends me Craigslist ads for stupid expensive 72 W30's to try and prove this one is worth a lot more than the $$$ number I threw out.

I bought a couple other Olds things he had for sale a couple years ago, a set of Holley valve covers and a 7029253 carb. He has a few other things squirreled away but nothing really worth much.

Saw that ad with the same pictures posted 2 years ago. Looked rough then and obviously still looks rough now. To bad because that Viking blue black is such an awesome combo.

Seller may be a nice guy but that car isn't worth 4500.00 Also noted the rear bumper is not a dual exhaust cutout. It's a shame that it's in this condition because of the limited number of X code cars that were produced.
