1972 Vista Cruiser For Sale

It’s time to part with my ’72 Vista Cruiser, Taxicab Yellow with ivory/brown interior, 350 2V automatic. This is a driver, very reliable, and has been my wife’s car since we bought it locally in early 1998. I believe we are the third owners. This is a “Texas” car, the local dealer script is still on the tailgate. It was a daily driver until late 2006 when we bought a Prius and still driven regularly after that. Selling to help fund restoration of our 1955 DeSoto.

The car has been maintained by me with the following updates:

• 01/1998 bought from 2nd owner in Irving TX, ~72000 miles
• 08/1998 new short block, 7A heads, exhaust headers & dual exhaust
• 01/1999 roof patched & painted
• 03/1999 rear brake shoes, new cylinders
• 07/1999 replaced AC compressor, now R134a
• 11/1999 replaced original points distributor w/GM HEI unit
• 11/1999 new 15x8 steel wheels replace original 14” wheels, 15” Olds hubcaps, 245/60-15 tires, 1.25” front swaybar (from F-body), 1” rear swaybar & boxed LCAs
• 05/2000 replaced heater core
• 09/2001 new radiator & fan clutch & coolant hoses
• 01/2004 replaced PS hoses
• 04/2005 114158 miles
• 02/2009 118328 miles
• 09/2009 replaced brake MC, new front calipers, pads & brake hoses
• 06/2010 front end rebuild – new upper & lower control arm bushings & ball joints, new shocks (4), new 245/60-15 tires, front end align
• 01/2011 replaced fuel pump & hoses, 122311 miles
• 10/2014 replaced starter & solenoid, 126868 miles
• 12/2014 odometer reads (1)29345 miles

Paint is in good to fair condition, the yellow is a repaint done by the previous owner, car was originally beige. The interior is original but does show wear. The woodgrain siding is original but faded. No third row seat, no luggage rack, rear window works from both front switch and rear key. The car has the typical rust issues around the upper Vista windows in spite of being kept under covered parking most of the time we have owned it.

All mods have been done to improve drivability, the suspension mods were done to improve ride quality, the exhaust headers were added just because bolting the original manifolds and Y-pipe back on was such a PITA (no header leaks, and I still have the original manifolds). As I mentioned the car is completely reliable, we have taken several long road trips in it, including trips to St Louis, Tennessee and south Texas. I do have to occasionally add motor oil - which mystifies me, the car doesn’t smoke or leak oil.

Asking $7000.

All questions answered honestly. I realize I'm new to the board so I'll be available to show the car to anyone who wants to inspect it here in Dallas TX.

Current odometer reading, we've been driving it quite a bit over the holidays. Looking at these pics I really need to get out there and vacuum it out.

The asking price is fine, as someone with interest would be inclined to make an offer. Craigslist is a good venue also. Patience... and good luck.
