This is my favourite colour as I've owned two Cutlass's this colour but they were not Supremes. This looks like a decent buy.

The link works fine. Car looks nice but as far as unmolested/all original? Where are the side moldings that came with all 72 CS 4257 models? That suggests it was repainted or there would be telltale evidence of the molding clips. Don't like the screw holding the rocker trim behind the LF wheel and that's not an OEM washer bottle/mount on the PS. Still overall it's a nice car. Glad to see price is negotiable.

Bittersweet, ya either love it or hate it. Trouble is most seem to have come with the same or orange interior. When I was a teen a guy on the next block had a 71 442 conv in bittersweet with a black top and interior, that was sweet!

The 71 colour was more orangey brown. The bronze was a beautiful colour that changed depending on the light. The interior colour was more brown that orange as well in 72. I liked it better than the 71 anyway. I just purchased some 71 stratos with new vinyl I will be selling when I changed them to black.

My dad had a '72 Supreme in Saddle Bronze with the Saddle roof and interior. It was a very rich looking combination, and he always got positive comments saying it looked nicer than a Lincoln or Caddy. And yes, it does look better with the side moldings. The non-pierced hood is correct for the A/C equipped model Supremes.

The hood is for 71/72 Cutlass Supreme with or without A/C. The Cutlass S/442 got the hood with the louvres. As for the side moulding that was for 70/71 Cutlass Supreme. 72 got the lower rocker trim, which this one has.

Sorry, but your information is not correct. ALL 71 hoods had rear vents. ONLY the 72 Cutlass models with AC had a hood with no rear vents. Check your 71 and 72 Assembly manuals for verification. Also note: the standard hood for the Cutlass S could also be factory ordered for the base Cutlass coupe, 4257 and 4267 models.

There is a difference between the Cutlass S hood and the ones used for the W29 442 cars. I agree the majority of W29 442s came with a louvered hood. Those louvers were blacked out, but the hoods were also pierced at the front left side to accept the Oldsmobile script since the grille had the 442 emblems. Therefore the hoods are not the same.

1972 W29 442 could also ordered with OAI hoods if equipped with a 350 4bbl. The W30 442 automatically came with OAI hood.

I believe you're mixing up the 72 moldings with the 70/71 wide lower body moldings (pot metal and stainless) that went from front fender to rear quarter. That also required the use of shorter length wheel opening moldings.

Was there even trim on A-body Olds Higher up?


Someone had something on my 442 In the side where holes were evident right where the Side stripe is now on my 70'442.


Wondering wtf it was, or Why it was there?


It's a 442 and I've never seen one with Solids Side Body molding ( Option b-84?)


It's been removes and Filled in poorly, Before I have it repainted and welded solid again I would love to know I'm not missing anything?

No, not missing anything. 442's traditionally have no body side trim of any kind except for wheel opening moldings and numerals. Whatever was there before is likely from someone's attempt to put aftermarket body side moldings on to protect the door paint from dings.

Your roof drip moldings and vinyl trim are factory items required for a vinyl roof. Nice looking car BTW.

Ive seen what looks like people using the #m adhesive to adhere 3/4" chrome on the side Instead of the Wide Painted on line along the Side of the Body,


Has anyone done that or have pics of it?


I think that would help vs. Dings and show the Side line pattern of original but in a smaller manner?

My car doesn't have painted stripes. I went with the decal at the time because it was less costly, and I didn't know if I wanted to keep it. With today's graphics the cuts and applications are incredibly precise and results are even better. I would redo mine using decals anyday. Dings? are you kidding? I don't let my car out of my sight and when its at shows it's always parked far enough from other car doors that its not an issue. I haven't met many car guys who will swing their door callously into a classic though. Oh yeah, it's not a driver either so that helps.

I'm thinking no side lines but vinyl ram air after a repaint to Dark grey We haven't decided I LOVE the line on this model car but with my black vinyl top IDK what colors would work BEst

I'm partial to silver.... but black goes with darn near everything. BTW the term for Oldsmobile is OAI (Outside Air Induction) for these cars. Ram Air is a Pontiac term. I'm also more partial to the fastback design, although the notchback (Supreme) is also a beautiful car.
