1972 #s matching U code Cutlass/442

NO LONGER FOR SALE

Gentlemen,

I am selling my 1972 numbers matching U code Cutlass/442. Can't say 100% that it is a 442 without documentation. Checked everywhere except on top of gas tank. I do have the title. Original drivetrain. Freshly rebuilt carb to factory spec. Looks brand new. Original sheet metal except for roof which needs work. The rear windshield area needs attention also. Otherwise the body is surprisingly solid. Frame, floors and rockers are nice. Car is in primer. Cowl tag #s say Flame Orange, white gut.

Automatic with console. White interior with bucket seats that should clean up nicely. Rallye pack, 8 track player, seat belt buzzer. White door panels are ok. Disc brakes, AC, 442 grills. Comes with metal hood. I also have a 1972 factory Ram Air hood available that is MINT.

Bumpers and wheels are gone. The SSIs in the pics DO NOT come with car. Extensive pics are here - http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/Ro...98702479544275

Asking $8,500, $11,000 with factory Ram Air Hood.

Car is in Madison, CT. I can be reached at 203-395-6195 (cell/text). My email is Rossi376@comcast.net

[QUOTE=ziff396;607505] No rot anywhere?[ /QUOTE]

I was refering to the frame, floors and rockers. Surface rust and rot are not the same thing in my book. Anyway, I edited the add.

[QUOTE=dnmfranco;608605] Lou sorry to hear - Dean

No need to apologize Dean. Got a line on a 72 W30. Can't do both projects.

Thanks Sal. I think I passed you on I-95 (Madison/Guilford area) about a month ago. You were travelling North, I was heading South. Nice car.

I have no vested interest in this potential sale, but I personally examined this car for Lou twice in PA before he bought it this past spring. It's a very solid car with a few thin spots that need work (two very small spots in the trunk and to the outside of the rear package tray on each side). It's not a salt belt rotbox by a long shot. Nice fenders, doors, floors, rear wheelwells, cowl, etc. and only light surface rust underneath. I'm also a "clone skeptic" and there are no signs that this car was cloned into a 442 from a standard Cutlass S. No filled emblem holes, ground off trim studs, etc.

Terry,

Thanks for vouching for the car. I appreciate the input BUT, it is no longer for sale. A deal on the W30 could not be struck.

It was a non #s matching, period correct drive train, X code W30. 4 speed. Red, black gut, white stripes. Had original Ram Air hood, rally pack, sport wheel, SS IIs, cut out rear bumper with trumpets, bucket seats, sway bar and boxed control arms. Needed interior & body work paint too.

Was second in line. Looked good for a while. First in line came up with the ca$h at the last moment so .........................

Thanks GA. All things considered, you are probably right. A W30 would have been sweet though.

No doubt, but still way cool and pretty rare considering '72 production #'s for non U, V or X codes. Keep us posted on the progress brother.

Hey Sal,

All signs pointed at it being the real deal. Now there is no doubt. I'm so psyched ! Steve & I were like kids on Christmas morning.

I hope she's ready for next season. They just finished paving my street. No one's christened it yet. Dying to be the first to lay down some strips !!!

The car was purchased primarily on your assessment. I was eternally grateful before, now I have offer up my 1st born. Just in time for college. She's all yours.
