1969 442 4spd, numbers match, $3000, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Sold pending payment.

Ok, I have put this off for long enough. I bought it as a parts car to do a 4spd conversion on my other '69 442. I could not bring myself to part out a numbers matching (minus carb) car. It sat in a field or barn since the late 70s, low miles and after changing the fluids and starter it runs great. We recently moved, my new garage is smaller, and I want to focus on one car at a time.

The Good-

Never modified drivetrain, number's matching G block 400, vin stamp matches car vin. Runs great.

Date code correct and likely original Muncie M20 with original shifter, backdrive linkage, etc. Drives and shifts through all the gears.

Correct and likely original 3.42 Anti Spin Olds 12 bolt.

Nice color combo, Silver/Blue, no vinyl top.

Low options, Rally Pack, PS, M20, Anti-Spin, and not much, if anything else.

Only thing I could find that is not original is the carb, it has a '68 Olds 350 Quadrajet.

The Bad

No title, found a couple little chunks of title paper in the glovebox, probably eaten by mice. Original owner died, I bought it from the guy that bought it from the original owner's family. Most states can get you a bonded title for low cost.

The brake lines are weak in places, I put a new master in it and new temporary lines on the axle. I did not try long to bleed them, but I think there is still air coming into the system. Stops, but just barely. Not road worthy.

Engine is running off of a gas jug under the hood.

Missing a few things, front bumper, shift ****, air cleaner, also has the incorrect driveshaft, too short, out of a TH350 car. Will move this way, but only onto a trailer.

The Ugly,

It's ugly, or it has (lots of) patina...

The door panels and carpet are shot/gone.

Needs quarters and outer wheelhouses, trunk floor extensions, braces, etc.

The trunk floor is gone, literally.

The price is $3000/firm, I know it sounds like a lot. But we all know what the gauges are worth, what the Muncie is worth, what the axle is worth, etc, etc.

I got a quote from a local restoration shop that said he could do all of the rear body work (correctly) for $7500. Again, it sounds like a lot, but if a person buys it for $3k, ships it home for $1k, at least you know what you have. Rather than buying a car with questionable paint/body, non-numbers matching, that may have been a Cutlass at one time, off of Ebay. At least with this you know what you have.

If anyone is seriously interested please email me direct at chaosjr07@yahoo.com

If there are no takers within the next few weeks I will part it out. That is not meant as a threat, just throwing it out there if anyone needs parts, make a note of it.

The silver exterior with a red interior, the 4-speed console, SS-1 rims, and red pin striping on the hood - not the W-30 stripes - would be a sharp combination. Hopefully, someone buys the '69 442 to restore and it is not parted out.

Thanks to all for the positive and constructive response. To those that inquired on parts I will keep you posted in the order requests were received. I do hope someone wants to buy it whole as a project, and will give it a bit of time first.
