1970 Oldsmobile rallye 350. All redone, 350 motor, 350 turbo trans, 410 posi. New interior. Not many miles since rebuild. New tires and wheels, chrome bumpers new.

Oh man. I've always loved those Rallye 350. I would love to be able to get that in my garage!
Edit: Shouldn't those bumpers be yellow like the rest of the car though? How can you be sure its a real Rallye?

Talked to the owner was very up front on the car It is painted Detonator yellow a dodge color form what he was told it has the decals clear coated over. I wish they would have went with the stock paint code and non cleared decals more so the paint code.

trust me it is killing me my wife has so much as said find a nice rallye and were in
she likes the 350 so my hart beat was up when I saw it now im a little let down. sure it looks great and 90 % of the people would not know it is wrong and yes for the money is seems like a great car

There was rust in the lower drivers fender and lower passenger rear quarter and driverside lower trunk lid. Rust was cut out and replaced with metal. The trunk floor and front/rear floors are rust free as well as the frame.
The underside of car and under the carpet were both treated with POR 15. Nice clean driver quality car.
The front seats and carpet is new original material. Rear seats and headliner are original and in nice shape. A/c is all there but not working, may need recharged. Heater works great. Refurbished Alpine cassette player.
I installed the tic/toc tach with analog gas, oil pressure, and temp. I still have the original gauges that will go with the car. Rims were media blasted and powder coated and new BF Goodrich tires installed.

Dougs Ralleye is in nicer condition for less money. It is unfortunate the previous owner who had the car painted did not go with the "correct" shade of yellow/orange orange/yellow , whatever the factory color was

I have talked to Ray on the phone and have seen and talked with him , and did see the ralleye he currently has for sale , at the land o lakes gto show. I know he had another rallye and some 70's pontiac trans ams in the past. No idea if he was at the N St.paul cruise in , owns a used car lot or about the drag racing scene.

Doug is very knowledgeable RE muncies and has a stock pile of them. If you negotiate with him he may be persuaded to include a four speed transmission with the rallye.
He called last nite. He has the OAI air cleaner for the car

I just cant get over those chrome bumpers... IMHO it kinda ruins the carm also i am suprised no one called out how the grills arent painted black where they are supposed to be. But if you look at it as a restored cutlass and post none the less, it is a decent price. But how much are you going to spend to bring it back to original colors though is the question. Also a thing to think about later down the line, if he clear coated over the decals, what will that do later on down the line to the car?

those are all the reasons he is selling he picked it up last year was going to 4 spd it coat bumper and and and then said i think i will sell to some one that can or will take the car for what it is and get a more stock one .

I have heard stories of dealers putting chrome bumpers on these cars when they were new because they could not sell them. I wonder if this might be one of those cars. I believe I read the painted Rallye bumpers have ground straps on them. It is amazing somebody would paint it the wrong color of yellow.

sicky olds: just looked at your restoration thread and noticed the build date is the same as my F-85 W-31, 02C! Hmmmmm means our cars were built the same week.
My VIN is 332770M276636
BTW: my Fisher Body Sequence number is 376241, yours is 368754. Mine was finished at Lansing Assembly at the end of the week on Feb 20-21 with Julian dates on the block 51 day, exhaust manifolds 50 and 51 of 70', so engine was assembled on the dayshift and the car completed on the nightshift .

sicky olds: No not from Florida. My car was delivered to a small multi-brand GM dealer in Cambridge, Ohio on March 5, 1970. It stayed in an area of 100 miles around Cambridge and I am the 5th owner. I bought the car in Nov. 1994 and brought it back to Florida were it has been since then!
BTW: It is true about the chrome bumpers. Also, some dealers were re-painting the cars another color. That is the reason this "Road Runner Sales Beater" was a one year only model! When I first saw the car in our "showroom" on the second floor of Lansing Assembly Plant it was purposed that four colors were to be available, Grape (dark purple), Apple (candy apple red), Lime (medium lime green), and Banana (yellow). To keep costs down Sales and Style Groups decided on Sebring Yellow. You could hear in the room most if not everyone whispered "well that will be a one year only flop" and it did do that. I was told that the last Rally 350 was sold in 1971 when the warranty was activated indicating it was sold.

There were four 69' Cutlass S models that were driven by four engineers during the summer of 69'. They were parked in front of the Engineering Bldg. 66 in the employee parking lot, so I guess they even took them home. Apple (candy apple red) was most popular, Grape (dark purple) second, then Lime (lime green) and last was Banana (Sebring Yellow, go figure)!

no pictures, who knew????? I did not even know about the Rally 350 until about Nov, of 1970 when I sat in a meeting discussing the decals as far as warranty, any production problems applying them, and vendor quality control. That is when I found out about why those four 69' Cutlass S in the engineering parking lot were painted those special colors. The UAW strike in 69-70' for 70' model run delayed the Rally 350 production and there was a lot of meetings I attended before and after strike about decisions and discussions about keeping costs down so it was in line with (MSRP) a base Road Runner.

I have been looking for the "RIGHT" Rallye 350 for some time now. It is a shame the one this thread is about was painted the wrong color. To me, with that, and the chrome bumpers, even CALLING it a Rallye is a stretch. I'm not knocking the guy or his car, and wish him all the luck with the sale. I want a post, stick, with no options, that is pretty close to being ready to use---I don't mind a little work, but not looking for a project. Again, good luck to Doug, with his sale.

The UAW strike was in September of 70 & it delayed the 72 model year roll out to 73 (and cut way back on 71 model year production). I don't think it effected the 70 Rallye production
(unless there was another strike in 69 that I wasn't aware of)
