1964 442 Hardtop AND 1964 Cutlass Hardtop
Asking $11,500 for both cars and all parts. (If you want my '65 442 also, I'll sell everything for $14,000. I describe it in the next post.)

My project car:
REAL '64 442 with all of the correct original stuff: 330, 4 speed, correct extra welds in cross member, dual snorkel air cleaner, boxed control arms, sway bar, original trunk lid with proper stamped holes for 442 emblem. Car runs and drives, but needs total restoration. The carburetor is a 4 jet, but incorrect (from a '62 full size) and requires priming to get it to start. Tranny works great, original shifter and no floor hump as they came. The car looks solid, but the hood and fenders are full of filler. I believe one entire 1/4 may have been replaced in the old days, too. Engine sounds great.
I would bet the trunk floor and probably interior floor are both rusty.
The extra parts included:
-Reproduction correct shifter handle
-Nice RUST FREE front fenders (one left & one right)
-Front window channel cut from a '64 Skylark (NICE!)
-Rear window channel that is oversize and also NICE.
The "Parts" car:
-ORIGINAL and virtually RUST FREE '64 Cutlass hardtop. Totally amazing!!! The car has NO rust in trunk, haven't checked floors (don't want to cut carpet). Original black interior is AMAZING! Bucket seats and back seat are plush with no holes or tears. Body is ALMOST PERFECT! This Cutlass was a deal I couldn't pass up, but now I worry that it would be almost a waste to use it as a parts car. It runs wonderfully, with its original 330 and 2 speed automatic. The trans was low on fluid when I got it (slow to engage) and it pulls to the right when driving. It also has a Holley in place of the original carburetor, and I could never find the 4 jet. Original air cleaner is still in the trunk, though.
With both these cars you could restore a very nice REAL '64 442 and use original parts. You could also align the Cutlass, tune it up, license and enjoy it while searching basically for a hood and side trim for the 442. Those are the only major pieces I felt I needed to find if I kept the Cutlass from being the donor car.
I think my price is an awesome opportunity. I got both cars for great prices, and I hate when people talk up car values every time they look at the latest cable show or auction result. So I want to sell them fair, not list them for a ridiculous price. I need to sell mainly because I want to be a better family/finances guy (and I have WAY too many project cars... I think I am a hoarder!). So I am asking an awesome price for a set that will enable someone to correctly restore a '644 442 much easier than usual.
Also, my pictures so far stink, and I will take better ones this coming month in order to list on Ebay. So be patient, and I should have more coming. If anyone is serious, it is much easier if you pick them up versus calling a shipper... I just stress over whether or not the shipper will be able to move the cars on and off the car trailer if they aren't able to coax an old car properly. But if your shipper is competent, these cars can be hauled easily.
The Cutlass is the maroon car, the 442 is the red one. The 442 pictures are from Salt Lake (when I bought it) and from my previous house. The Cutlass pics are at my present house. I live in Utah County, just south of Provo.

If anyone is enough of a nut to be interested, I would also sell my '65 442 with the other two cars for $14,000 total.
The '65 is also a REAL 442, ORIGINAL running motor and trans with TONS of parts included. It has a replacement roof welded on (due to a sunroof cut into the original) and has the front and rear glass removed but included. Interior floors are PERFECT. Window channel is PERFECT. Trunk floor needs replacing. I have the original "mini" build tag from under the seat, and it is also 4V code car (easier to verify). ORIGINAL, running 400 and 4 speed, original console and tach, power steering and power brakes. Rear is now a '68 12 bolt, but I have the original rear end housing with some parts. Carb is original, also.
Comes with TWO '65 442 shifters, a '66 442 shifter (installed back in the day), the ORIGINAL console and tach, extra fender, extra door, extra 1/4 panels (only needs lower patches), extra correct 400 intake and 4 jet (doesn't need it, but included), NOS shifter ball (the plain black one), NOS dog dish hubcaps (they are PERFECT, just not in the original boxes anymore) , extra taillight complete assemblies, extra trim pieces, extra rear corner pieces, etc.
I hate to lose the 442 stockpile, but I should really thin my herd of projects.

The far right photo attempts to show the homemade replacement rear window channel patch. I have a nice entire rear window channel piece to replace this.
The above picture is of one of the spare fenders and shows a slight bend in the front edge. Awesome other than that!

Here's pictures of the '64 442 taken yesterday...
The air cleaner IS the original. It was repainted black along the way.
Be patient and I will post pics of the Cutlass survivor, the 1965 442, and all of the parts.
You can see the hood is bent in. The passenger fender is nice with no rust, but the driver one is why I bought a nice extra set (next post will show damage on driver fender front).

The above right picture shows the fiberglass patch area in the trunk lip that will require a metal patch fabricated. That is one rust spot that gives me the *******, but again is fixable.

The 1965 442 project car...
Here are pictures of the '65 taken today. The best things about the '65 is:
-The body is super straight.
-The car is not a rust bucket, just needing trunk floor and small lower 1/4 rear patches.
-Real 4V code 442 with original motor (and I'm sure the tranny is, too)
No rust in either fender, but this one shows how it was bent inward a little.

Don't worry, the '64 442 is absolutely, positively a REAL one. (And the '65 is, of course...)
-Has the "442 only" stamped frame numbers and date (and the frame is
CLEAN).
-Has the correct factory extra plates welded on the front crossmember
horns.
-Has 4 holes for each upper control arm, unlike regular Cutlass/F85 frames.
-Has the original FACTORY boxed lower control arms and rear sway bar.
-Correct trunk holes for emblem installation (442 only).
-Has the "442 only" stamped frame numbers and date (and the frame is
CLEAN).
-Has the correct factory extra plates welded on the front crossmember

The 1965 442 is also absolutely REAL! And it is the ideal project car!
-4V code on cowl tag
-Original running 400 and 4 speed
-Original 4 speed console
-NOS dog dish hubcaps

Yeah, 4 money pits - a VC (see major builds and proj), Flat top wagon (see wagons) and 2 2dr coupes. All in need of resto. My blue coupe is for sale. I just need a ragtop to round out the lot....

Only document is the clear title. But I've never checked for a build sheet above the gas tank, etc! (What are the chances, right???)
If you are at all worried that this car is not a real 442 (as I was after I bought it), rest assured! This '64 is a real, true 442. The frame is the 442 only frame, etc. etc. Read this thread and especially the thread found here: http://w29.boards.net/index.cgi?boar...ay&thread=3275
The guys at the '65 442 forum which I joined when it started have helped verify this car as a real '64 442. At first they are a huge pain to determine if you don't have the original sales info, window sticker or POP.

Still have the '64 Cutlass and '64 442. I can't face selling just one of them, since I want both together when I ever get around to restoring the 442.
