I have an original ASC (Automobile Specialty Company) modified car that sold for $23K in 1987. I purchased the car from a guy who had purchased it new for his wife. The car is white with the maroon leather interior, 167K, 4 Firestone Firehawks. 2 year old battery. New alternator and starter with less than 10 miles on them. Body is perfect with zero rust. Never wrecked. Car has always been garaged and was Zeibarted every year up until 2 years ago when the original owner sold it to me. The original owner had a new engine put in in 1997. (ID on block indicates date) I drove the car daily until it developed a fairly loud engine knock a day after having the starter installed by the local garage a few months back (on this model the exhaust manifold has to be removed to access it) I don’t know what caused it but at this point I’m not going to mess with it. The tranny slipped from the day I bought it (worse in cold weather) so it needs rebuilt.
An offer of $1000 alone was made for the 2 front Lear seats by a street rodder but I’m not going to part it out. The car will have to be towed.
I'm asking $1500 or best offer. Car is in Ohio.

Dan,
If you call any repair facility you won't find anything listed under "Touring Sedan." Closet thing is the 98 Regency. This was Olds' most expensive top of the line car in 1987. I have all the original paperwork and sales literature.
Yes, it looks like a 98 from the outside but you'll only find special Touring Sedan badges. Same with the interior.
The unfinshed car was shipped from the factory, not as a finshed car from the dealer, to ASC. If you aren't familiar with ASC they are the ones that did the work on converting the Buick Grand Nationals to the rare GNX. They have also done work on the 30th anniversary Firebird, the Viper and the BMW convertible along with other cars and concept vehicles. Here is a link to their web site. http://www.asc-usa.com/profile/history.htm
The car is a front wheel drive car. I do not know the gear ratio. The car is a 3.8 SFI V6.
Although the engine is pretty much shot and the tranny slips the sum of the parts of this car is worth way more than what I'm asking for it.
Take a good close look at the options list. It has all the bells and whistles you could imagine. Parts for these are hard to come by. The body is spotless.
If you send me your e-mail address I will send you the pics that I have.
Mark
