That is the oldest thread I have ever seen resurrected. I doubt the OP is still alive.

I'm pretty sure it didn't sell through this forum, only one post from the OP.
Was there any interest at all in diesel Oldsmobiles in 2003?. This one would have been a 20 year old car, most of its contemporaries would be destined for destruction derbies rather than being snapped up by a collecter surely?.

Roger.

There is an 81 in very nice condition near me. Black with same mileage and diesel. And not too far of a drive for you.

I didn't even know a 14 year old thread could be accessed on our website. Wasn't there a server change or a crash sometime within the past 10 years?

I was and still am looking for pictures of the factory oil cooler line routing for B-Body with Diesel.

I already have an original factory oil-filter adapter with cooler port for such a car (I bought it from ChrisW) but I have not (yet) arrived at my "factory-looking" hard line solution.

As crazy as it sounds, I really like Diesel Oldsmobiles, Cadillacs, Buicks and Pontiacs. I have a number of them that I like to work on. If anyone knows of one for sale, I would like to have another one.

Herbie, here's one. Unfortunately it's clear on the other side of the country from you.

I think it was Car & Driver magazine that had an article describing a long road trip/Cannonball Run with three diesels. One was an early 80s Delta 88, one was a mercedes, and I forget the last one, maybe a Volkswagon Rabbit. The Olds won. It was probably in the early 2000s that this event took place.

Thank you. I know, I have been watching this one on Craigslist for several months now. At that price, I wonder why it did not sell fast unless there are some problems with the car. I see it does not have the original D block. It has a later but improved DX block from the 80s. It's loaded, cornering lamps, fiber optics, nice color combo, a coupe, the first year of the Royal Brougham interior, ect. Yes, this one is tempting and rare. If it was on the east coast, I guess I would have at least looked into it more. The cost to move it across the country is not cheap.

Herbie, why haven't you bought this one yet? The last time I saw a 1977-1985 Holiday 88 was 1999 in a salvage yard in KCMO.

It cost me $900 to ship a 1985 Delta 88 from Las Vegas to Wash DC about 16 months ago. It's not so bad when they run. It's the non-running project cars that can get really spendy to ship ($1800 to get the 64 Vista from Reno to D.C.).

Yes, thank you, I saw this one too. The Holiday diesel is almost impossible to find. I think the price is a bit too high for the amount of work this car needs plus, it's very basic with crank windows. The interior is worn and the paint and bumper fillers are poor. I like all the diesels but I try to stick with the fully loaded 98 Regencys, the Cadillacs and the Buick Electra diesels.

I agree that the Holiday 88 was a bit rough. Too bad it isn't in my neck of the woods. I would at least check it out for a test drive.

If I were to buy an Olds diesel sight unseen I would consider the silver one in Seattle first.

If your buddy is going to be selling those diesels soon post a For Sale thread with an asking price and location for each of those cars. Every bit of publicity will help them sell.

Per the CSM picture, the oil cooler/oil cooler lines seem to occupy the space typically occupied by the transmission cooler/transmission cooler lines in the gas application.

Does the CSM further specify a particular diesel transmission cooler arrangement?

Thanks

EDIT see this oil/trans double cooler radiator below - maybe diesel transmission lines not unique after all:
