1969 442 w30

As much as I hate to part with my Olds I am. Retiring the end of June. Thought I would check to see if anyone on here would be interested before I actively start marketing it. You can read all about this car on this site under the 442 thread - "New Member - 1969 W30". This is a needs nothing car and a no disappointment vehicle. Price - $46,000. Contact me with any questions/phone number...etc. Thank you. Tom

Very nice car! I had a ‘69 W-32 and loved it. Wish I had it back. Do you have documentation?

I do not have a build sheet/build card/window sticker - but have many pictures of the car pre-restoration and of all the W30 goodies were pictured on the car - and also have a good write up on the history of the car with the pictures noting it's a true W30. I sure wish the Oldsmobile's were like the Buick's in the space of being able to document!! Not because it's mine - but I can honestly say it would be difficult to find a nicer one than this one! Being the Ethics Officer (part of my job) at my company (which I am retiring from) I put a lot emphasis on always being ethical!

Very nice
It might not be the fastest of the muscle cars but is one of the nicest looking to roll off a US assembly line.
Top shelf car!

I wonder why it doesn't have headrests. I thought they were mandatory in 69

I always wondered the same thing - the pictures of the car in my documentation shows no headrest and on an order sheet I saw it looked like an option - so not sure.

I just Googled it. All vehicles manufactured after Jan 1st, 1969 so yours was probably built before Jan 1st.

Headrests

Headrests May have been like shoulder belts; if the car was built on or BEFORE 12/31/68, they may not have been required. There was a run of W-30s in the fall of ‘68 and again in the spring of ‘69 I believe.

Headrests

I see the VIN Sticker is in the D/S Door JB; when does it say it was produced? Should have a date in the upper right quadrant with a month & year. Ie. 10/68.

Beautiful car Tom!!!! It's a shame you're letting it go. It should have the headrests though, your door vin sticker shows a build date of 5-69. At least all the headrest stuff is available these days. rcktdoc is correct that '69 442s, (vettes & some others) came with the internal reg. alternators. Someone here on the site(might have been Joe/costpenn?) restored an all original '70 W30 that had it's correct open face internal alt. but someone at the factory put the external voltage reg. on the firewall by mistake but it wasn't hooked up to anything! Looks like someone goofed when they restored your car?? You'd have to change the engine wiring harness along with the alt but it wouldn't be a big deal to swap it except for hiding the holes in the firewall. I'm retiring in the next couple of years & I hope to keep my '68 'til I can't drive a stick anymore!

Thanks for the information - I would not have know that detail. At least both items are easy fixes. I always thought the headrest thing was odd and thought about taking the car to an interior shop here in Raleigh that does outstanding work but never got around to it. It’s not that big of deal to me - performance and reliability along with the killer looks was key to me. I appreciate the feedback though. That’s why I like these forums - there’s a wealth of information on them!!

Back

Retired on 7/1 and been busy this month so thought I would check back on here to see any activity. I am willing to adjust the price on the car. I would say it would be hard to find a 69 nicer than this one - even though there may be some minor inexpensive changes to make. So anyone that may be interested in this car or know of someone looking for a 69 model - send them my way. Thanks.

I hear you - the weather here was beautiful here Saturday so I had it out on and off all day. No matter where I go in that car it’s a magnet for discussion. Appreciate the comment!

Haha - my wife tells me all the time that I might as well move to the garage because I spend so much time around my cars/truck!

UPDATE - Lowering Price

I am lowering the price on my 442 - so if anyone is interested in making a reasonable offer send me a message. Whoever gets this car would be getting a beauty - that would have to do nothing to it - that's a promise! I hate to list and deal with advertising on Hemmings/Ebay - and would rather it go to someone on board. Just let me know!

WOw, what a nice looking car, I think the rims, tires and stance really make that car look great.
