1972 Cutlass Supreme Hard Top With 455 4 Speed
Planning to sell the car as a rolling chassis.. $37,500 US Dollars Price as of 13 APRIL 2024
This V CODE 72 Supreme has a clean minnesota title.
Rear axle will be an 8.5 corporate unit with 2.73 RATIO Gearing OPEN NOT POSI
Will have Numbers Matching Engine Block with main caps and VIN Match M20 MUNCIE 4 Speed
The suspension was re done. Bought parts from a place in California HO specialties.
The front spindles are the style used by a 1972 TRANS AM and CAMARO also larger diameter rotors / calipers combo. Steers , Rides and Stops WAY better than factory 1972 A BODY
The rear springs were replaced a few years ago with NEW as well 4 new gas charged shock absorbers.. I contacted HO SPECIALTIES Directly and purchased the variable rate back spring to go with front end kit and for the size and weight of the car. The steering gear box was replaced ( I think from YEAR ONE ) with a new one only about 10,000 miles tops on all steering parts , ball joints etc.. Will have Power Steering pump with lines and brackets. Brakes for the front will be intact with MANUAL DISK BRAKE MASTER.
I will NOT hook up the rear brakes if I take the axle out of the car.
Paint and interior are decent. Console was removed many years ago. NOT INCLUDED

Car was special ordered with 455 and M20 muncie 4 speed. I have a copy of the window sticker and VIN stamped block and transmission.
When I purchased the V code Cutlass it had Edelbrock Toker aluminum intake and holley carb. I put the TRIPOWER on because I wanted to. I never claimed the factory made my car like it is now.

Thats an interesting car. Is the rear limited slip? and what is the gearing?
Is there a general rule of thumb for rear gear and M20 vs M21,M22?
I was told 2:78, 3:08, 3:23 = M20 wide ratio
Anything higher would be M21 or M22 close ratio? Anybody know the math with this cuz Im not too familiar. I believe it has to do with 1st gear in the muncie?

The V code supreme came with 3.23 ratio 10 bolt posi and manual front disk brakes. It also had 14x7 SSI wheels. NOW SSIII with 255/60/15 Mickey Thompson sportsman tires mounted with white letters to the inside.
Here are a couple pictures before new tires
Car has a 12 bolt chevy axle now 3.31 POSI I plan to remove that as well as well as the 455 That is in the car now.
I did recently purchase a 71 / 72 10 bolt axle with open carrier and 2.73 Ratio GM gears That I will put under the car to make it a rolling chassis

Sorry if I was not perfectly clear.
It is a nice car and I will be sad to see it go.
Thanks for the kind words
Have a great day

A beautiful car and good luck with your sale. The V codes are certainly getting their due respect. I think it’s cool you are running that tri power setup on the engine. Otherwise the cast iron intake and 4 barrel is still a cool setup. 👍😎

HI
THANKS
At this time it does have a non original engine. I have the VIN stamped original block under the work bench. Engine was tired, Smoked due to rings / valves being worn. I happened to have a fresh 455 that was supposed to go in the convert which now is in the Cutlass. I will be removing the NOT ORIGINAL 455
The Car was in August 2012 "Wheels of Thunder" magazine

Thanks!
The tri carb attracts LOTS of attention when I pop the hood at shows / cruise ins. "Shock and Awe" plus the loud sucking sound from under hood is hard to beat
I would much rather have OEM intake and carb than any aftermarket stuff. I would guess fuel economy LOL would be better with the single 4 bbl

Not necessarily. At cruise, you're running on two barrels, whether those be the one deuce or the front of the quadrajet. Now, the era appropriate quadrajet is probably a little more efficient than that two barrel, as it would be a five year or so newer carb, but any gains would be dwarfed by the big honking engine that is there regardless, and negated by any hammering you might be reasonably inclined to do.
Including the original block and the non-matching with tri carbs engine is a good way to get people interested and minimize your time commitment. Most money would be restore the original block, put it all back to stock, sell the tri carbs separate, and the non-numbers 455 as yet another sale, but that's a lot of work of a few grand more.
I'm doing the OAI on my 67 442, but am doing the 67 version with Quadrajet. I wish that 3x2 setup would have been around in 67, but, alas.

Hello
I am pretty Motivated. We could have the VCODE SUPREME ready to go next week. I insist on a $1000 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT before I tear the car apart.
Recommended that a potential buyer sees the car in person before that.
The VIN #'s block has main caps , nothing else. BARE BLOCK
I have located a manual transmission 455 crankshaft with roller bearing for transmission input AND a set of 8 connecting rods to go with the car..
Transmission will also be bare. No shifter or drive shaft.
The car will require rear brakes be installed. Manual front disc brakes will be left intact.
I do more have parts that I will make available to buyer after the sale if they desire.

Brian, Here are a few older pics I have from the registry - good luck with your sale. Please let me know where it ends up.
Terry
Original color and wheel combination (Code 65 B) - this is NOT Brian's car.
Engine compartment prior to his 3x2 intake and other modifications.
Interior shots.

HEY TERRY
THANK YOU
That last picture with the aftermarket wheels was from within a month or so of my buying the car. Did you record when I sent that to you??
My guess is about 2005... Engine was tired and smoked badly. Then the clutch went bad and the car was torn apart for a few years of frame on restoration.
I dug the Original block out from HIBERNATION No pictures of that yet.
The transmission is still in the car.
The motor is Still nice and OILY.
I got rid of , SOLD , the heads , pistons ( worn 30 over bore ) , rods and the crank etc. years ago
Happy Motoring
